Cool Star Wars Science

So. Have you ever thought about the ramifications of hyperspace travel? Not the fact that it somehow works, just. You’ve invented a hyperdrive. Okay. But how good are your telescopes?

Because if you’ve got a Hubble out around Coruscant? You’re looking at Tatooine from about 44,000 years ago. 

The star wars galaxy is 120,000 light years in Diameter. Prehistory started 25,000 years ago. 

The entirety of the galaxy’s past should be viewable, if you just do the math and figure out where to put your telescope. You can’t get there, but you can SEE it. Light from stars, reaching your position after thousands of years. Hundreds of years. Days. 

And that’s all assuming a space faring civilization has our level of star-viewing technology. What if they had better?

Somewhere near Alderran, Historians are watching Coruscant undergo the Fall of the Old Republic in real time. 

*I’m using Star Wars but this applies to literally anywhere you have faster-than-light travel.

**Scientists out there, please tell me what I’m getting wrong about this.
