Finally trying out Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Let’s see... generic space-humans... diesel-punk space-dwarves(?)... giant space-bugs... and ooh! space-Amazons!
And no generically pretty, Hollywood Amazons in boob-plate armor, either. No, these are tall, beefy, genetically enhanced planet-conquering Amazons with advanced enviro-suits and superior bio-technology, motherf***ers!
I mean look at how jacked these gals are! Major kudos to Triumph and Paradox for letting their Amazons be beefcake sci-fi warrior queens.
Instead of tanks and hoverbikes that other factions get, the Amazons employ biologicals, like space-pterodactyls and bio-enhanced cat/dinosaur mounts. Their standard weapons are bio-blasters and space compound bows, and their terraforming centers around creating forests to shelter their units and hinder their foes. In this way, I kind of feel like the Planetfall Amazons fill a similar niche to the elves in previous Age of Wonders titles.
They do go barefoot, oddly enough, but I like the design of their compound bows and the organic styling of their bio-armor.
I admit I’m still figuring the game out to some degree and don’t quite understand all of the mechanics yet. But all around it’s an entertaining game that retains a lot of the crunchy features I enjoyed in Age of Wonders III, and incorporates them well in this sci-fi setting.
I got caught up on Red vs Blue and decided to (torture myself) expand my skills by trying blocky sci-fi armor! And ofc it's a shiny teal night fury bc I'm me!
A second commission for Stephanie of her Character Dee! I wanted to go for a less saturated palette and a brushier feel for this illustration. Of all the paintings I’ve ever done, I’m still trying to find a style I’m comfortable with. Funny enough the execution hasn’t changed that much (well maybe I’m a little more time-efficient now), but switching brushes around brought this result that I’m VERY happy with. Thoughts? Do you guys prefer brushier images, or cleaner, ultra rendered illustrations?
