Hello!! I'd like to ask what are you studying in health science & politics. Im currently a senior in high school & in a few months time, im going to take my national exams. I'm still confused/unsure about what to take in college...

Hi anon!! That’s super exciting that you’re so close to college! 

Health science is suuper broad which is great because you can get a feel for a wide range of areas and specialise later if you want to. I’m in my third year, and have taken classes on health promotion, health economics, disease prevention, infectious disease, epidemiology, biostatistics, health and globalisation, and healthcare in rural or disadvantaged communities. I’ve loved how you learn about so many different areas in health science because by the time you finish your degree, you have a clear idea about what parts you liked and what parts you didn’t. The flipside with this is that it doesn’t lead into any super specific career pathway, but gives a really great foundation in the field.

For my politics major, my uni does the major so you can basically pick and choose all your classes. So for me, I’ve chosen to take almost all my classes on diplomacy, strategy and African/Middle Eastern politics because that’s what I’m most interested in. But I know heaps of other people who have done the same degree but have focused on completely different things, like Australian political systems or political media. 

I go to uni in Australia, so of course what one uni teaches may be completely different to another! I recommend looking up the units and specialisations in the degrees you’re interested in doing. If you get to college and are super confused and aren’t sure what you want to do, I think taking a health science degree is great if you are interested in the sector but want to get more of a feel of it first. The combination of health science and politics has been really great for me, because I want to work in international development so I get both the practical healthcare side as well as the politics side in my degree.

[ 3/100 days of productivity ] I haven't studied languages in a while but got back into it today by revising the Hindi Devanagari alphabet! I'm so conflicted as to whether to focus on Swahili or Hindi, they are both such beautiful languages 💫 Hope you've all had a productive day!☺️
