1. After many experiments, first with carbon filaments and then with platinum and other metals, in the end Edison returned to a carbon filament. The first successful test was on October 22, 1879. Here
2. The Principia (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) was published on 5 July 1687 In this work, Newton stated the three universal laws of motion. Here
3. Returning from holiday on September 3, 1928, Fleming began to sort through petri dishes containing colonies of Staphylococcus, bacteria that cause boils, sore throats and abscesses. He noticed something unusual on one dish. It was dotted with colonies, save for one area where a blob of mold was growing. Here
4. It appeared in April 1953 in the scientific paper where James Watson and Francis Crick presented the structure of the DNA-helix, the molecule that carries genetic information from one generation to the other. Here

Why is poster design the best and worst part of research? As much fun as it is, it is just as painful.
