13.03.25 - watering, pruning, overall check up
🌿 the morning glory seeds continue to germinate really well! All of the seedlings in the picture have developed leaves (cute, heart-shaped ones in pairs), and they seem to be doing pretty well. My only concern is 1 specific seedling: it grew the fastest and tallest, however it has the smallest leaves and doesn't seem to have as many roots as the rest, if it even has any. I made sure it wasn't broken in any point of the stem and that it was buried deep before, but today I let it sit down against the soil rather than against the glass to give it more uniform support. Other than that, I watered her once more and replaced the film, making sure she gets her humidity!
Picture is old, from only 2 days after sowing, but works :)
🌿 Along with her, I also took a closer look at my new Philodendron scandens "lemon lime" and my Scindapsus aureus "happy".
🌿 I love Philodendrons and I was so happy I managed to find one so similar to neon pothos, but now um trying to figure out what exactly is a healthy yellow in them, from their actual variation, or old/damaged yellow. I cut out a few leaves I was sure were old because the nerves just didn't look healthy and the overall leaf felt very weird to the touch compared to others, but I left a lot that I was unsure whether or not to cut. I'll be putting her somewhere I know will make her leaves grow mostly a vivid, light green color so that I can keep the lime vibe without having to play a guessing game with the leaves.
🌿 Looking at this picture now, I'm realizing I should have maybe cut the leaf right at the center, since it has a green spot amidst the yellow with dark veins, which makes me believe it actually is an old one...
🌿 when I saw this pothos I grabbed it without a second thought. I'm a sucker for these babies and both her color and pattern are absolutely amazing. I was thinking about repotting her where a cutting of my other pothos is, but I wanna let her acclimate and settle down first before doing anything that might stress her.
🌿 I'm still unsure about her proper name though. The store labeled it Scindapsus, and through google I know this is a pothos, and pothos are usually Epipremnum. This one can be called Epipremnum pinnatum too, apparently, but I'm not sure which one is right? Or at least more correct/widly used.
🌿 Aside from this I mostly watered my most sensitive plants and took 2 cuttings from my string of pearls to give to a friend. I never tried propagating her, but I made sure to get a long cutting and let the entire thing rest on the dirt, so that all nodes have a chance at rooting. I also tried propagating individual pearls that came off, but I have no idea whether or not they have the capability of growing roots and a new plant. We'll see!
