Here are some photos I took of melanistic fox squirrels (Sciurus niger) from Colorado Springs.
Thanks for the share! Man, I love all melanistic animals, but especially ones that are not solid black. Love the dark grizzled look, gorgeous!
This fox squirrel looked like she was about to pounce on me
Me: Hey, will you take a picture of me with the statue of Jesus?
Sister: Of course!
Me: *sees a squirrel that looks different than the ones back home* SQUIRREL! *takes off into the grove of trees to get a pic so I can ID it later*
Sister: ...you literally just had a "squirrel!" moment!

This was a cute idea I got while I was watching my DVD of Nausicaa the other day. If you've seen the movie, then you may remember that adorable pet animal named Teto that the title character owns, which is referred to as a fox-squirrel. Well here in the US, there's actually a species of squirrel known as the Eastern fox squirrel, so I thought it would be fun to draw the two of them meeting each other. So yeah, here's Teto the fictional fox squirrel meeting a real life fox squirrel. 😁
