"He sees everything," Lucius says. "The Dark Lord is the most accomplished Legilimens of our age. Do not try to lie to him, even about inconsequential things. He will know and he will be angry." Do not anger him remains unspoken. "It will be uncomfortable, but he only wants to look." Raine could be a spy, an Order member, an Auror . . . but after the Dark Lord, their loyalty will be confirmed. They'll be let in on Lucius's real identity without the mask, the identity of many other members of the inner circle, and innumerable secret machinations as they come up.

"The Mark will hurt. Try not to embarrass yourself." Lucius spent the week after he got it pretending curse breaking on an old artifact went bad. The serious look disappears. He claps them on the back. "It's a great honor. You've come a long way. Someone's bought Firewhiskey for afterwards." Lucius did - it's suitably expensive for the occasion. The members of the inner circle present can drag them off to drink. The Dark Lord is always willing to give leave for Muggle-hunting after an initiation.

There's nothing else they need to know. Lucius will pick them up tomorrow and bring them to the agreed meeting place with a portkey.

"Wh-- Right, right, yeah."

Titan, Hunter was lucky he was used to pulling all-nighters already because he didn't think he'd had a single full night of sleep since his unwanted trip into the Emperor's mind. Learning horrible truths about yourself would do that, probably.

'Safe' wasn't something that the former guard thought he'd ever feel again. Not here, not at Hexside, not anywhere as long as Belos was still alive. Because he was damn sure the Emperor would find him eventually.

"I don't really do resting, I'll be fine."

    In one night, Douxie LOST everything. Again. It was always night when bad things happened to those he cared about. First his mother all those years ago when the monsters attacked. Now the news dropped that Merlin was apparently in some kind of stasis and Morgana was now in a frozen, dormant prison.

     Tensions were already very tense between the two. Douxie was already aware of that. Every day, the young boy watched what was once unity turn into bitter arguments as views shifted drastically. It was hard to watch their decline, and even harder that Morgana drifted further away from himself as a result. They were a family, or that's what the apprentice believed in his heart. It had gotten to the point that it was HARD to watch them fight, and no matter how much he tried to intervene, he was brushed off or shoved out the door.

     But the young apprentice did not witness their final battle during the war. The boy was forced to stay behind, and not by his own   decision. He wanted to help. He wanted to prove that he was strong enough. He wanted to bring Morgana home. But Merlin wasn't one to shy away from methods that was looked down upon by many others. Thus, Douxie had been locked behind an enchanted door an an effort to keep him from ‘making a mess’. 

    He is only here now because Archie had to help him out of the window that was far above the ground.

     "I...I...." The teenager stammered as his arms folded into his chest. He felt small in that moment. Useless. Numb. He wished there was another way than this. Two souls that meant a lot to him were lost. At least two more remained at that moment. Raine and Archie .Thunder droned in the distance, as if it even couldn't take the eerie silence after the battle. "I've been lead astray. I don't know what to do. Honestly, I haven't been without them for...a very long time."

     “ hey, raine. ”   alberto’s voice was quiet as he heard them, lifting his head upwards to peer at them, squinting slightly in the sun. he considered their words for a long moment, before he shrugged his shoulders and gestured for them to sit down beside him if they so wished. he wasn’t against having the company.. quite often, he liked it, and he only tended to isolate if he was feeling particularly low. 

   “ sure, if you want. ”   there was a distinct lack of energy in his words, which, to anyone who knew the young sea monster, would be seen as unusual.   however, he didn’t seem sad, per say.. just.. thoughtful, pensive, almost.    he sat on the edge of the docks, feet dangling above the ocean, gazing down at the water, before he let out a long sigh. 

   “ what are you even doing down by the docks, anyway? ” he asked suddenly, resting his palms on the stone behind him, leaning backwards.    “ what time is it? did you close the shop already? ”     how long had he even been sat out here? he’d.. sort of lost track, in all honesty.
