Campus Game Fest 2016 (June 24-26): Cosplay, eSports, laser tag and so much more
A cosplay runway; laser tag; League of Legends show match between all-girl teams Asterisk and Galaxy; King of Fighters XIV demo; fun-for-all tournaments for Street Fighter V, Hearthstone, Pokemon, Endgods, FIFA 16, CS:GO, DOTA2 and even trading card games like CCardfight!! Vanguard and Yu-Gi-Oh — plus so much more.
That’s Campus Game Fest 2016, in a nutshell.
Taking place from June 24 to 26 at the ITE College Central multi-purpose hall (Block F) in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, the festival is quite possibly the most happening place to be this weekend — if you like fun and games, that is.

There’s so much going on that I can’t list everything. So instead, I’m just going to direct you to the Event Guide on the CGF2016 official website.
There, you’ll find a full list of stage activities, as well as the start times and full schedule for tournaments and other details.
The ever popular Cosplay Runway is back at this year’s Campus Game Fest, too, scheduled to take place on June 25 (Saturday) at 6:00PM. More information about this year’s Cosplay Runway can be found under the Anime & Japanese Culture section within the CGF Highlights tab.
Organised by the Singapore CyberSports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) in conjunction with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Community Club Youth Executive Committees (CC YECs) from Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency (GRC) and Sengkang West Single Member Constituency (SMC), the festival seeks to empower Singapore’s youth leaders and volunteers by having them take on leadership roles in running various community fun events.
An opening ceremony for the festival was held earlier this afternoon, officiated by guest-of-honour Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth. In her opening address, she spoke about the virtues of responsible gaming and eSports.
“I’m a mother of three young men, so I am well aware that eSports, or competitive gaming, resonates with many youths and enables you to connect with one another,” Ms Fu said.
“If you play as a team, you will also learn to cooperate and develop strategies with your fellow team members to overcome opponents and win matches. So if you practise healthy gaming habits, such as setting limits on time spent online, eSports can help you develop positive values such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.”
Dr Ang Kiam Wee, Principal of ITE College Central, also had a few words to say about the budding eSports talents in Singapore.
“Campus Game Fest 2016, now into its fourth release, was made possible under the SCOGA-ITE strategic partnership that started in 2013,” Dr Ang said.
“Over these few years, we are very thankful that more agencies and local communities have joined us in this effort to ensure our youths have the right understanding of eSports from a financial, cultural, social and technological perspective, resulting in a steady growth in eSports popularity and professionalism in Singapore.
“We are, therefore, very proud to witness the emergence of our own talents in the local eSports scene. ITE graduates Muhammed Khairi Hafriz Bin Hamzah and Muhd Norizwan represented Singapore in the ASEAN Games for eSports in Kuala Lumpur. Juan Miguel Alrivers Rodriguez, a current Higher Nitec in Games Programming & Development student represented Asia at The Halo World Finals 2016 in California, USA, and his team attained top 16 placements in the finals.”
Campus Game Fest 2016 takes place from June 24 (Friday) to June 26 (Sunday). The showfloor is open daily from 10:00AM to 11:00PM.
Entrance is free — register for your free e-ticket here to expedite the entrance process.
