Scott 4, Scott Walker (1969)
Not only did Scott 4 contain the greatest frequency of magnificent songs (among other songs that were, of course, not much less than magnificent) of any of Scott Walker’s first four records, but they were all his. Those with strutting rhythm sections don’t take away from the gorgeous slower cuts, neither do they overshadow his perfect singing or sparse moments of instrumental melancholy. There isn’t an album quite like Scott 4, Walker’s finest record before everything turned stranger, less idyllic and more avant-garde.
Pick: ‘The Seventh Seal’

What a beautiful way to start a new year, listening to all the first 5 albums of the musical legend that was and still is and forever will be Mr Scott Walker. Happy New Year everybody!
"a man's work is nothing but this slow trek to rediscover, through the detours of art, those two or three great and simple images in whose presence his heart first opened" - Camus
