Cage Warriors 104 fight week is here. This Saturday night, Europe’s leading MMA promotion return to Cardiff to stage their biggest Welsh event ever, headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Wales’ own world champion Jack Shore and Scottish challenger Scott Malone.
Shore is still unbeaten with a perfect record of 10-0, but for him this fight means more than just another chance to improve his record. By defending the world title he won in December, he can prove his ‘true’ champion status to his doubters.
In a recent interview with the BBC, he said: “It’ll be one to tick off the list, defending the belt, because people say you’re not truly the champion until you have defended it. I look forward to doing that.”
On the other side of the cage will be Scott Malone, whose 6-fight win streak includes a dominant win over Shore’s long-time teammate Josh Reed in his last outing. Malone is predicting another impressive finish within the opening rounds, and insists that walking out in enemy territory won’t phase him on Saturday night.
CW104’s co-main event will see Cardiff’s Aaron Khalid – who finished his last 3 fights within the distance – take on Tom ‘Kong’ Watson, who enters the Cage Warriors roster after a 7-fight run with the UFC. The main card also features a lightweight battle between Mason Jones and Donovan Desmae, and the return of Cory McKenna – one of the top female MMA prospects in Europe.
On the pro preliminary card, Welsh fan favourites Josh Reed, Kris Edwards and Oban Elliott look to bring home wins for the Cardiff crowd. Before that, two amateur title fights top the Cage Warriors Academy card, showcasing the top amateur talent from Wales and across the UK.
“We’re seeing a real surge in Welsh talent at the moment that makes it such an exciting territory for Cage Warriors,” says the promotion’s President Graham Boylan.
“Shore vs Malone for the title is a huge main event. Jack has managed to assemble a Welsh fan base on a level we’ve never really seen before. Think Conor McGregor in Dublin – this is going to be massive.”
Doors at the Viola Arena open at 4PM. Tickets are still available HERE.

Here comes the Boom! Exclusive interview with Scott Malone ahead of his CW100 bout with Josh Reid
Dundee fighter Scott ‘Boom Boom’ Malone (5-1) returns to action on Saturday night at Cage Warriors 100 with the landmark event taking place at The Ice Arena in Cardiff, Wales.
The Scottish bantamweight prospect will test his skills against local lad, Josh ‘Crazy Horse’ Reid (7-2), in a contest that could have title implications for the winner.
Malone said: “It feels great to be part of Cage Warriors 100. I always wanted to be part of this card as it is such a special night in the promotions history. Plus, I know it gives me the opportunity to show what I can do in front of a huge TV audience.
“Josh Reid is a Cage Warriors veteran and I know he is a powerful striker with some decent grappling. I don’t think he is technically great, but he is definitely a good fighter and I won’t be taking him lightly”.
Reid is of course a Welsh fighter and the Tillery Combat man will have the majority of the crowd on his side, but stepping into the lion’s den is not anything new to Boom Boom. He said: “Most of my fights have been in the other guy’s home town, so fighting Josh in Wales won’t bother me at all. I’m no stranger to that. If a crowd is hostile towards me, it gives me extra motivation.”
Malone’s last outing was only 7 weeks ago when he stopped Adam Amarasinghe in impressive fashion at Cage Warriors 98 and the 30 year old is desperate to build on that momentum on Saturday night. He said: “It has only been a couple of months since I last fought but I wanted to get back in there as quick as possible as I felt that was my most impressive performance to date.
“Plus, I don’t know if it’s just bad luck or there have been genuine reasons, but I have had about 11 guys cancel on me in the past couple of years so I want to keep busy and make up for that lost time.
Headlining Cage Warriors 98 was Malone’s fellow countryman, Ross Houston, who won the Cage Warriors welterweight title and watching Ross being handed the gold belt has given Boom Boom all the extra motivation he needs going into this contest.
He said: “It was brilliant to see Ross win the belt and now he will probably be singed by the UFC. I know that if I keep beating these guys that will be me soon. A win over Josh should put me right in the mix for a title shot.
“There is a lot of rumour about Cage Warriors coming to Scotland next year and it would be a dream come true if I got a title shot here in Scotland.
“Ultimately, I want to win the Cage Warriors belt and be the next guy in the UFC. When I started fighting getting to the UFC was always the goal and I’m not going to stop until I get there”.
You can watch Scott in action on BT Sport3 from 9pm on Saturday 8th December.

In wake of Canada attacks, Toronto police drill for disaster
By Scott Malone and Allison Martell TORONTO (Reuters) - About 100 police, firefighters and other emergency workers held a disaster-response drill in downtown Toronto's deserted financial district on Sunday following a week that saw two soldiers killed on Canadian soil. Security in normally relaxed Canada has been tighter in the days since a gunman shot dead a soldier in Ottawa before charging into the parliament building and another man ran over two soldiers with a car, killing one, outside Montreal. ...
