Akin to the Bacon number and Erdős number, i propose the Scott number. One's Bacon number is the distance they are away from Kevin Bacon via shared appearances in a movie, an Erdős number is the same with mathematical paper authorship. Therefore, the Scott number is the distance one is away from Tom Scott via podcast and YouTube videos. Scott himself has a number of 0, one of his guests, say, Matt Gray, would have a number of 1, and someone who has appeared in Matt Gray's videos would have a number of 2. Wikipedia lists the concept of a Bacon-Erdős number, the sum of one's Bacon and Erdős number, so theoretically there could be a Bacon-Erdős-Scott number. The only candidate I have found so far is Hannah Fry, with a Bacon number of 2 via Lenny Rush, an Erdős number of 5, and a Scott number of 1 via Lateral.

yknow what, my goal for this year is to become well-established enough to have a scott number of at least 3, with me actually contributing to the content and not just being in the background. and then maybe next year ill aim for 2, and then the year after hopefully i'm well-established enough (and far enough along in my transition) to appear on lateral.
