FEATURE FRIDAY: Dr. Austin Newsome is a dermatologist serving in Chapel Hill & Cary NC, @cdc_skin_and_laser. Dr. Newsome began her education by earning a degree in Biology with a focus in cellular and molecular studies from Hampton University. She then went on to receive her medical degree and training as a dermatologist from East Carolina University. Dr. Newsome's interest in dermatology started early during her medical training at ECU. She greatly values the knowledge that when she treats skin conditions, she can also be treating the social and mental anxieties that sometimes accompanies those conditions. Dr. Newsome enjoys general and cosmetic dermatology, but has a special interest in skin of color. She hopes to continue learning and bringing new treatment ideas and techniques to all of her patients. As a Durham native, Dr. Newsome has enjoyed seeing the Triangle grow as a great place, not only to raise a family, but also a mecca for innovation, arts, food, and entertainment.
