Remember "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" ? I feel like there's been a distancing from the "reduce" and "reuse" part and a favoritism towards "recycle" by corporate American.

Capitalism can still thrive with recycling in the mix. You buy Plastic Thing 1, throw it away after one use, and they take that and recycle it into Plastic Thing 2 and sell it back to you. All while continuing to harm the environment.

Reusing puts a damper on things. They can't sell you Plastic Thing 2 when you're still using Plastic Thing 1. Plastic forks, for example- there is literally no reason why you can't reuse plastic forks more than once (aside from maybe microplastics, but it's too late for that)

Reducing is the one everyone wants to ignore. Just don't buy Plastic Thing 1. You don't need Plastic Thing 1. Pick up a set of metal forks and use those for years. Convenience is killing the planet

Least favorite form of political action is those 1 day boycotts. "Everybody don't buy anything for 1 day!" Like cool wtf is that gonna do? You do know what a boycott is, right? You do it until a change is made. Black folks in Montgomery didn't ride the bus for over a year until segregated seating was lifted. For most of them, that was the only transportation they could afford. It was difficult! That's the point! How do you expect things to change permanently if you don't permanently change! Please!

Ugh ugh ugh I’m upset IM UPSET. I have been goin to protests since I was 18, before I could even drive! I was just jumping on buses or hopping in strangers cars or WALKING Everywhere! I got heat stroke twice! But now I’m nearly 24 and I’m tired. I shouldn’t feel this tired but I do. I’m tired of liberals treating protests like they’re parades. I’m tired of the same 3 chants. Im tired of the cutesy protest flyers and slogans and instagram photo ops. I have REAL anger in my body! I feel so much anger when I see injustice around me it makes my skin itch! But now I’m tired and I don’t know what to do

I will never not mourn the boyhood I was refused. I had an all guy friend group, but there was still a difference in how I was treated. However, I also didn't experience much of a girlhood. I was ostracized from sleepovers and birthday parties for how masculine I acted. The only part I did experience was the body image issues and SA teen girls face

Confession Time: you know back in 2019-2022 the popular rhetoric in lesbian spaces was that lesbians liked women better than men liked women. You know this sorta stuff:

I never felt like that but I pretended to to fit in, which obviously in hindsight it makes sense, but still. It was a pretty big stepping stone for me figuring out I’m a guy.

My incessant need to understand the world around me is fighting against my better judgment. I so badly want to know why some people are trans. I know for a lot of people, it’s purely a social thing, but for me, it’s almost entirely a biological thing. What was it in my fetal development that made this disconnect between my body and mind? I want to know!

BUT I HOPE THEY NEVER FIND OUT!

My favorite part of Adventure Time is just how well it captures the passage of time on a large scale. Finn and Jake go on crazy adventures and are well loved and celebrated in their time. They’re fucking celebrities in Ooo! But in episodes set hundreds of years in the future, no one remembers their names. Even immortal characters like PB or BMO eventually forget them. These characters we followed and grew to love are reduced to legends and I think that’s beautiful
