The storyline I conjured up for this is that Kinger managed to save Caine before he was deleted [the process of the deletion was delayed for a second, it didn't move quickly like how it did in episode 8], but the deletion process was 60% completed. And because of the deletion being cancelled halfway through, some remnants of Caine's code that survived had drifted else where to reboot safely.
And those little bits of code and data had found it's way to Kinger's pillow fort, and impeded itself into one of the eggs in the carton. Which soon after hatched, and out came Caine— reformed in a different body, a hatchling. Even if he was saved from his demise, he isn't *completely* fine. His powers are weak and almost nonexistent, he can't talk [he can only say at least a few words but the rest is just chicken noises], and half to most of his memories are blurred and blank. It's like the gems getting hit with the rejuvenator; they get reset to default mode. Except here with Caine it was slightly botched. But if he were to remember then his full potential could be unlocked.
I don't know what I'd call this AU.. maybe something like "Scrambled Code"?
