Actor Courteney Cox is returning as news reporter Gale Weathers in the upcoming Scream reboot.

The “Friends” star confirmed her casting in an Instagram post on Friday.

I can’t wait to see this face again, Cox wrote alongside a clip of the iconic black-and-white Scream mask.

With the new film, Spyglass Media Group is relaunching the 24-year-old franchise.

SCREAM Reboot to be Helmed by Ready or Not Directors!

Spyglass Media, the production company behind the upcoming SCREAM Reboot has announced they have chosen the directors for the new film. Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett the duo-directing team behind last year’s hit horror-comedy, Ready or Not will helm the film. The two, along with producer Chad Villela are collectively known as Radio Silence.

New Scream Movie In The Works

Earlier this year it had been reported that Jason Blum was keen to pick up the rights to Scream and give it the same treatment he gave Halloween. However, according to Bloody Disgusting, Spyglass Media Group is preparing the return trip to Woodsboro with news that theyre developing a new Scream movie.The meta-horror franchise launched back in 1996 directed by genre legend Wes Craven with a razor-sharp script from Kevin Williamson. Full of movie references, self-aware humour, and an iconic killer with Ghostface, Scream paved the way for a revival of the slasher movie. The original trilogy concluded in 2000, but Craven brought the gang back together in 2011 for Scream 4 which sadly served as his final film before his death in 2015.

Nothing will ever be as good as the original Scream movies, they were amazing and yes the series wasn't all that as it was, to be fair in a lot of areas it shit on the franchise but the reboot completely tarnishes the franchise (no not because it's a mainly black and other poc cast you idiots who think that's why we all hate the idea, because to be honest the rep is the only saving grace for the reboot idea) by making the protagonist a man, don't you think men rule enough? Can't we have a single thing to ourselves, so again, just to be clear, my problem is not the reboot itself, it's the fact that we didn't get closure on the previous story and our characters and also the fact you've turned a female protagonist centred franchise into another bland male saviour franchise. Thanks but no thanks.
