how castlevania canon justifies sypha transcanons

Alright, so if you’re wondering what this all about, look no more! Basically, this is just a quick and dirty on how and why Sypha absolutely could be transcanoned (or, headcanoned as trans) and why Castlevania canon (both the game & anime) embellish on the possibility of this being a thing.

To begin, here are proofs that establish the possibility of Sypha being seen as masculine-presenting/a transmale taken from material from Castlevania III:

To begin, here is a screenshot of Sypha from the instruction booklet (click for a pdf of that original booklet) that introduces this to us:

With he/him/his pronouns highlighted, with Sypha being referred to in a masculine sense, as well as her design being purposefully kept androgynous, this informs and justifies the first possibility, listed above.

Next, a concrete video from Sypha and Trevor’s first meeting that further informs this:

Now, moving on to the anime and the possibility of NB/other genderless interpretations:

To begin, this is the conversation Trevor had with the Speaker Elder and their clain in s01e02, Necropolis, that consistently refers to Sypha with gender-neutral pronouns and references (the screencaps all have timestamps that can be referenced for proof):

As Sypha’s outfit in the anime doesn’t need to be referred (due to how many people know her by it), it’s safe to say that people understand where this is coming from and how androgynous her outfit is.

Lastly, please understand that I am not interested in forcing people to transcanon Sypha, but this is more of an informative post of dependable references in canon that support the possibility.

At the end of the day, headcanon Sypha however you damn well please and don’t let anyone hassle you for it.
