After the screening, Q&A with co-writer/director Lev Kalman and L for Leisure cast members, moderated by Nellie Killian, Programmer, BAMcinématek. Saturday, May 16th 1:30pm Screening preceded by “Come as You Are” a video by artist Erica Magrey. Followed by Q&A with Erica and L for Leisure co-writer/director Lev Kalman. Sat. 4:00pm L for Leisure Lecture Series - Jonathan Basile. Jonathan Basile is a fiction writer, amateur philosopher, and creator of an online universal library, libraryofbabel.info. He will discuss time & nostalgia in the interrelated layers of L for Leisure's narrative, its editing, and its medium. Q&A with Jonathan and co-writer/director Lev Kalman. Sunday, May 17th 2pm Film introduced by co-writer/director Whitney Horn. Following the screening, a Q&A with Scott Cummings (director, Buffalo Juggalos) and co-writer/director Lev Kalman. Monday, May 18th 7:30pm L for Leisure Lecture Series - Jeanette Samyn. Jeanette Samyn just finished her PhD in Victorian Literature at Indiana University, and will be a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for the Humanities at Wesleyan University starting in the fall. Her lecture will consider L for Leisure's relationship to parasitic thought. Tuesday, May 19th 2:00pm Matinee Tue. 7:30pm Before the screening, “NBA jAams,” a live performance of a new basketball-themed collaboration by John Atkinson (Big A litle a, composer L for Leisure soundtrack), Lev Kalman and Whitney Horn (filmmakers L for Leisure). Q&A after the screening with Lev Kalman and John Atkinson. Wednesday, May 20th 7:30pm Film introduced by co-writer/director Whitney Horn. Following the screening, a Q&A with Sophie Cavoulacos (Curatorial Assistant, Department of Film, MoMA) and co-writer/director Lev Kalman. Thursday, May 21st 2:00pm Matinee Thurs. 7:30pm: CLOSING NIGHT L for Leisure Lecture Series - Danilo Correale. Danilo Correale is an Italian artist and researcher. His last project no more sleep no more is a 3 hour sensorial documentary on the condition of wakefulness in postmodernity. His lecture “L for Laziness” represents a collection of thoughts about the relationship between laziness and leisure and how these "practices" are perceived under different class privileges. Closing night party at the café! Featuring live soundtrack remixes by John Atkinson (Big A litle a, composer L for Leisure soundtrack) with video projections by Lev Kalman and Whitney Horn (filmmakers L for Leisure).
