Raw Reflections
Today, I went to the Women’s March in LA. Initially, I was nervous on how we would make this trip. There was an insane number of people expected to come and I had no idea on where we could park, how far the walk would be and how in the hell were we even supposed to drive there. Thankfully, luck was on our side and so was our 6:30AM early streak.
As we made our exit for Pershing Square, I could definitely feel the excitement start coming in. I was in awe on how everything was so well-organized and arranged. In a crowd of over a hundred thousand; I felt warmth, love and safety.
It was heartwarming to see so many people come together against hate, Islamophobia, homophobia, and promote love. Countless feelings were washing over me, but mostly I was reflecting on the strength of women.
Our bodies. Our pain. Our joys. Our sorrows. Our sex is so strong, yet our bodies are policed so heavily. Our minds our told what is right, what is wrong. We are made to bow down and to submit ourselves.
Today, we were made to feel free.
