I march because of the internal anxiety and fear I have when strangers ask for my ten month old son's name, Musa -explicitly foreign and clearly Muslim. I march because I don't want to think of saying it's English equivalent, Moses, every time. I march because after Jummah prayers I want to keep my headscarf on a little longer and embrace my identity. I march because I don't want to hide under a name that rolls off their tongues easier, Sara. I march so that this America will be safer for all immigrant communities, for black lives, for healthcare, for my Muslim ummah.
