We need to take more lessons from our children. I'm so tired. So much racism and discrimination, unacknowledged and passed around like candy only for the mouths of heteronormative, white people. Stop. Stop explaining away racism because it makes you uncomfortable, because you're "not racist" (sweetheart, you may not be but, you live in a racist country). Stop acting like being straight affords you the ability to judge others. Stop. Stop using inherently white "statistics" to justify actions. No, white people are not statistically killed more by police officers, whites out number minorities (hence, why they're minorities). Black people make up only 13% of our population, so statistics making claims about white lives being taken more frequently are flawed. In 2015 the police were 5 times more likely to shoot a black person than a white person, 5 times!!! The message is not that all lives don't matter. The message is that black lives matter, too. Love all people. Stand for the disenfranchised. Stand for the oppressed. If you're white, use your voice. Stop trying to allay your discomfort, people are dying. Moses tells me it is sad that people don't love others. He says that people who bully others should be put in jail. He doesn't (yet) understand racism or discrimination and when does - when he's old enough to do so - I hope he stands strong against it when he encounters it. #stopkillingblackpeople #BlackLivesMatter
