Also a whole gaggle of wlw characters they should start a band or something at this rate

Know it's a bit of a long read but most of it is paced in a way that you can take breaks and come back to it later.

Terrifyingly, Donatello's life is falling into a sort of normalcy again, in spite of the grief that still lingers around him. But as he keeps trying to move along this upswing, Holly Blue of all people makes things more difficult. As if she hates the idea of Donatello caring about her. But just as he begins to navigate that, the threat Big Mama poses becomes more and more present. And the threads get more tangled as Donatello attempts to rescue her assistant from her clutches. Can he really get this masked stranger away from Big Mama? And even if he does, what do they do then?

Bone Deep Color Stains - Chapter 19 - 2-4 Bargaining Chip On Your Shoulder

 “Holly Blue’s in danger.”  His father’s anger vanished in an instant. “What? What happened?”  “I’ll explain when everyone else gets here.” In the meantime, he’d make some tea.   It didn’t take long for the others to arrive. Casey got there in record time on her bike. Draxum and Junior arrived a beat later through a portal. April got there last, but she brought Sunita with her. Everyone lingered in the main room, some sipping on tea. Donatello told them all Holly Blue was in trouble, but he saved the details until everyone got there.   “I… made a mistake.” He started with that.

 Varii tried once again to screw the metal plate onto the arm. Despite his ability to access and control this technology, he didn’t know the first thing about building it.   The screwdriver slipped out of his vines. He screamed again.   “Good giddly grief, is this a bad time?”  Varii spun in the water. Through the clear glass he could see someone standing in the entrance, lit from behind. As they stepped closer, the silhouette became far more obvious.   “How did you find this place?” Varii spat at Big Mama and built a charge along his back.

 “Big Mama?”   She quit biting at her thumbnail and glanced across her desk. Three of her highest ranking bellhops stood in the room, all of them attempting to strategize her next move. Sending those bounty hunters resulted in failure. She could afford to hire more, except…   She rested her hand on the desk. “We need to cancel our offensive tactics.”   Lenny’s ears shot up. “What? But we’ve finally figured out where Frida is sleeping. We could—”  When she stood, he fell silent. She stepped around her chair to stare out the window instead. “Big Mama has been playing this game a bit too foolishly, I admit. I thought for certain with three of those turtly-boos gone, one more wouldn’t pose as much of a threat. It seems that is not the case. Donatello has allies that I know little to nothing about. Miss Blue also has connections that I remain unaware of. We cannot launch a proper counter attack like this.”

 “Sneaking in again, Junior?” She grabbed his shirt and shook him once. “And taking the merchandise.”   He shoved the rest of it into his mouth and swallowed it before she could take it back. “One of the girls downstairs gave it to me when I came in.”   “Blaming children! You should be more mature than that.”  He rolled his eyes. Sometimes he struggled to see how Cassandra could have turned into his mother, even if it was obvious at other moments. “I just came to get some applications, okay? You’re gonna have more recruits soon, hopefully.”   “Hmph, an acceptable trade then.” She let go. “But if you want to help more, you should head up to the roof.”   He raised a brow. “Why?”  “Donatello just went there after our sparring session. Where I did in fact kick the shit out of him for yelling at Frida the other day.”

 Donatello flinched and knew he couldn’t argue with that. “Well, great, now I have to get it back.”  “What for?”  “I can’t fully repair the tank without it!”  Splinter fixed his gaze on him. “And why do you need to do that?”   He opened his mouth and glared, because the answer should be obvious. But then he failed to find it.  Why did he need to do that? What would they use it for? Transport, maybe, but it was huge and bulky and not suited for casual driving. They weren’t going out as a team to fight crime anymore. Something so massive would just be a detriment.   His father let out a long sigh. “It was a beautiful and fantastic machine, Donatello. But I fear she can no longer serve her purpose.”

Holly Blue isn’t a stranger to trying to snatch up Big Mama’s champions in order to reach her own goals. But her recent observations of this one strikes a bit of a personal cord as she watches him slowly give up. When Big Mama refuses to let Holly Blue meet this champion, she takes things into her own hands. But springing him from the arena prisons was the easy part. Now Holly Blue finds herself looking after a turtle who’s not even an adult yet and seems to have lost all his zest for life. If she wants their business deal to work, she has to get to the root of the problem. And then help him find a way to move on.
