Filmschenectady is having their 1st annual Script Contest! Submit by January 27th for a chance to win the grand prize of $2,000 for a feature film or $1,000 for a TV Pilot. Click here for more information!

Hollywood Outreach Program (HOP) provides feature writers with in-dept script analysis and access to production companies, agents, and managers. The program is run twice yearly, from July 1 to November 30 and January 1 to May 31.

BENEFITS:

Entries receive extensive, in-depth story and script analysis/development notes (5-10 pages) from at least two professional readers.  The program’s objective is to help writers improve their craft so they may learn the skills necessary to help them achieve their goal of obtaining representation, selling or optioning their work, and/or landing a writing assignment.  

PRIZES:

Scripts will be eligible to be read by industry professionals including studio executives, production companies, agents and managers based on their request from interest in the logline and genre. InkTip Script Listing:  A listing of your script on InkTip so that producers and reps can find you. TextAloud DVDs (TextAloud, plus Crystal and Mike Premium Voices). NextUp.com is providing the DVD’s which go to the top three (3) recommends.

ENO Mini Opera Libretto Submissions Online

The librettos submitted for the Mini Operas Script Competition have all been posted on their website, and I'm enjoying the different interpretations of the seed stories written by Neil Gaiman, Will Self, and A.L. Kennedy.

On June 4th, they will unveil the ten scripts selected as inspiration for the Soundtrack Competition. Composers will choose a script that they like, then compose and record an original sound track for it. Ten compositions will be chosen for the next round. You can read more on the Mini Operas site. 

I loved the challenge of creating something new in an unfamiliar form, and the spirit of collaboration is something I very much support.

I'll enjoy watching the process unfold.
