hello. not a torture question but do you know other script blogs geared towards the military/soldier? or just any other script blogs?

Hi! Most of the script blogs are archived now but they are still online and available for you to read through old asks and masterposts. Also- good call to not make me your source for information on the military, as a pacifist with an interest in torture I am at best biased.

 There was a ScriptSoldier, however he left the family after some pretty serious disagreements with the majority of us. I don’t want to go into it but I’m not really comfortable linking to his archive.

 The ScriptFamily blogs as they were in 2018 are all here, including the archived/inactive ones. I’m in contact with a lot of the people who ran the blogs but I honestly have no idea how many are still running. A while back someone said I’m the last one standing, which isn’t true but I think a lot of the popular ones that were run by one person have stopped, because this is a lot of work.

Do the Script blogs accept/answer questions that have to do with writing fanfiction?

Absolutely! A number of mods ( @scriptmedic for instance, or @scripttorture, just to name two I can recall off the top of my head) have already answered occasional questions related to fanfics/how to work with a canon that says X, Y or Z things. So long as it’s still 100% fiction as a work, then you’re generally good to go! :) Just keep in mind that:1.) if it’s a fandom or set of fandoms with Science Fiction or Fantasy elements, e.g. aliens or magic or whatnot, then Aunt Scripty’s Rule of Reality (aka “you break it, you bought it”), still applies - even if it’s canon’s fault in that case :Pand 2.) remember that you cannot assume everybody knows every fandom in and out - or that they have time to familiarize themselves with it either, even if it’s “just” one book or “just” a short film, or “super famous, everybody knows it”, etc; not everybody actually has seen, say, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, or else may not have seen it recently enough to be helpful. So, my rule of thumb (aside from keeping the Rule of Reality in mind), is to make sure not to include any irrelevant details - and that if a canonical detail is actually relevant to your question, you should definitely include it, but make any reference to it so clear that they can figure out what they need to know to answer your question...without having seen/read/heard the media in question.  Also keep in mind that if you ask your question from a logged-in tumblr account instead of on Anon, then the mods can message you privately to ask clarifying questions if they need to; I’d advise any particularly complex (or multi-part, in the case of ScriptXblogs that accept those) questions be asked from a logged-in tumblr account just in case for that reason (I highlight multi-part ones too because sometimes tumblr eats asks and I recently did have a ScriptX mod need to ask me for one part of a multi-part ask I sent in to be resent since the middle one got eaten, so yeah, it’s a good backup plan!)Good luck with your fanfic! :)-Mod Vorpalgirl

to the “family”, there are two of you i tolerated. i was in this group for almost nine months. nine fucking months of constantly having to deal with the patronizing behaviour, which was so bad that i couldn’t complain about any single thing without being told to calm down and talk about it in 24 hours and anger is bad and nasty and you shouldn’t be upset about never getting a say and all that kinda nonsense. in the future, try listening. you’ve lost people because you never do, and you’ll continue to do so, at this rate. 

and to you, the 800-odd people who followed me because of the out-of-context handle on my username. have fun or whatever. enjoy your writing. don’t come to me for advice lmao (none of you ever did anyway, which was cool because i wouldn’t have answered it ayy).

Two New ScriptBlogs!!

Hey everyone! I wanted to pimp two new Scriptblogs. I’m stupendously proud of both of them.

In a little behind-the-scenes stuff, we recently added a mentorship period to incoming blogs and starting sensitive-topic blogs with different URLs for a trial run. Both of these have done extremely well.

First, ScriptPolitics​ is here to help you with your political needs. They’re non-partisan and are here to help you develop political systems and  write within existing ones. The second is ScriptTorture.  This is a blog about the uses of torture in writing, including techniques and uses, and what torture is good for (eg terrorizing a populace) and isn’t good for (eg interrogation). A special note on scripttorture: Yes, once upon a time there was a previous iteration of scripttorture, that was created without asking when there was an explosion of people starting scriptblogs without even telling me. Yes, that blog was extremely problematic, and ultimately I asked them to change their URL to not associate with the ScriptX Family. Given the sensitive nature of the topic, I’ve been mentoring the new scripttorture myself. Her content is well-researched and detailed. I’m extremely proud of her and her work. This won’t be another disaster.

Both blogs are live and already have some outstanding content, so go give them a read!!

Eh, technically not a medical question but do the script blogs answer all of the questions that come their way or do they have a way of picking out questions to answer? Thanks :p

This depends, and is individual to individual. Generally speaking, we try to answer everything (eventually).

I personally don’t answer asks regarding child sexual abuse (CSA), and tend to shy away from asks about torture (not because I don’t think either of these things deserve answers, but because frankly I don’t want to use the headspace to go delving into research that is going to make me want to burn the world to a crisp. Then again, I’m currently mentoring scripttorture, so I may be a masochist.)

Other blogs may have individual policies; most have a before-you-ask type of a page. Try using a browser (not Tumblr Mobile) to access scriptTOPIC.tumblr.com to see if the blog you’re wondering about has a policy on asks.

One other thing: we as a group have a don’t-engage policy toward trolls, though it’s slightly more complicated than that.

If you’ve sent in an ask and haven’t gotten an answer, and you weren’t being a troll, it’s probably just buried in an inbox.

That said, my inbox is somewhat unique among the Scriptblogs. I currently have… squints 939 asks waiting for my answer. I answer 3 a day, every day. I think I had 920-ish when I opened my browser this morning.

There is one other possibility. Tumblr has been known to eat asks before, just like candy. So if you’ve been waiting a while, you can always check in with the blogger in question and make sure your question made it.
