My focus verse is Ephesians 4:1-3. And my comfort verse is Joshua 1:9.

“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Eph 4:1-3

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Scripture series submission

My submission to the Scripture series is 2 Corinthians 5:14-20.

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

This passage sums up the mission of the followers of Jesus in this world. The “ministry of reconciliation” is serious business, but it’s not only for church leaders. If you follow Jesus, this mission is yours! I like to call it our cosmic peace mission. :)

Romans 13:8-10 is always my favorite :)

I got this one twice, but I’m still gonna share it. I’m just gonna use a different translation!

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.“

Psalm 46:10a It's the only verse I can remember when I'm upset or anxious, and it helps me if I reflect on the immense fact that He is God. So much is encompassed in that statement.

“Be still, and know that I am God!    I will be honored by every nation.    I will be honored throughout the world.”

That’s a fantastic verse to remember. Thank you so much for sharing. I love that first part. Be still. Don’t worry. Remain calm. Why? Because He is God. He has it under control. Thank you so much for this reminder.

Romans 13:8-10! As a gay christian this one has always spoke to me in dark times and helped calm my fears. Sharing because I hope others love it too :)

“Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.”

James 5:1-6

“Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.”

That’s some hard truth right there. Good reminder that although money isn’t bad in itself, the love of money leads to a path of destruction. Thanks for sharing!
