sundry has been begging me to read sss-class suicide hunter for Literal Months & I’m finally picking it up, it’s an entertaining read so far. though… look away I need to be blunt. the first few translation groups are… hm. there are a lot of typos, inconsistencies, and awkward phrasing that doesn’t take into account the localization aspect of translation for a more natural delivery. I think it’s interesting to see a regression/death loop narrative that subverts the usual development of the regressor becoming more and more detached as loops take their mental toll; instead, the main character seems to get more and more attached, and rather than starting by wanting to protect people it’s a goal he starts to gain as he continues forward. I wouldn’t necessarily say the main character lacks compassion in the beginning, but it’s not until he does the whole regression future knowledge exponential power growth that he’s put in situations that he can tap into it. unfortunately there’s the typical casual ableist language, as there usually is, but apparently I’m about about to hit an arc that slaps so looking forward to that
