I found this cutie hanging out in the lemon tree. Very nice camouflage - I wouldn't have seen them if it wasn't for the super long legs.

Bug of the Day
This wee katydid nymph (Scudderia sp.) perched on a dead stem is so freaking adorable!! <3 <3 <3
fancy bush katydid nymph
[ID: A photograph of a nymph Mexican Bush Katydid sitting on some unripe blueberries, with a white hand in the background. The young katydid has skinny black legs, long black antennae with white stripes. Its body is pale iridescent green, fading to orange and finally red on its head. Small seafoam colored spots decorate its back.
It is sitting on a cluster of large but unripe blueberries that are still more green than purple.
End ID.]

A very pretty bug I found earlier :)
Scudder’s Bush Katydid (Scudderia sp.) development
From early nymph to adult (female) ovipositing in a leaf. The young nymphs look similar to assassin bug nymphs, and the striped antennae sticks around for much of their development.
