If you guessed: Chiloe micropteron, Baeomorphidae (formerly known as Rotoitidae), you're right! I've been wanting to draw this gal for months, and finally got around to it. I hope I did a good job! Drawn with coloured pencils.
Reblogging this one because it's a favourite. I love Chiloe micropteron!
May 21st 2026. Went for a greenbelt excursion, and it did not disappoint! I saw my first ever Indigo Bunting!!!!! I was not at all expecting that, and I was absolutely delighted!!!! I was so excited, I was shaking, so I'm surprised I managed to get a photo at all! The crabapples are putting on a beautiful show. It was a very productive outing. 11/10! 👌🏼
Indica shed 2 days ago! He's looking nice and bright! 😎 ☀️
My poster is FINALLY finished and ready! I printed an enormous copy for myself. It's 36 x 58 inches! Although, the next copies I will make will be slightly smaller. The smallest size would be 24 x 36 inches and probably a slightly bigger size, not sure what the exact dimensions would be, probably something like 26 x 38. 36 x 58 looks incredible, but it's so gigantic, it's almost unmanageable. I'm really happy with the quality and how it turned out, though! It looks great in my room! If anyone has any questions or inquiries, don't hesitate to PM me!
Drew my wasp OC today! I thought about drawing her with some kind of clothing, but it would have hidden her wonderful colours. She's a Shedoepistenia sp. (Lyciscidae). As an artist, she's got coloured pencils, my favourite Ocean Jasper sphere as a mineral enthusiast, and a Nikon Coolpix P1000 as a photographer! I think that about sums me up.
I've always wondered what kind of wasp I'd be if I were one, but that's a really tough call. Even picking a favourite one is near impossible! It would be cool to draw myself as a wasp, but I have no idea what wasp I would be!!!!
I'm an artist.
I'm interested in Ornithology, Entomology, Mineralogy, Herpetology, Botany, Photography.
My favourite colour is green.
I'm female. She/Her.
I enjoy going for walks.
My favourite music genre is Indie.
My favourite foods are pasta and sushi.
I'm introverted.
Just putting some personal info to help narrow down the possibilities. I'm just a little overwhelmed as there are too many options!
Once I find out which wasp aligns with my character best, I'm going to draw my wasp OC! Pretty excited about that!
Love is in the air!

Earlier this year (April/May), I had the pleasure of drawing the life cycle of Megarhyssa atrata for this paper.
I want to personally thank the authors for giving me this amazing opportunity. I had a blast drawing these! I tried my hardest to create some quality illustrations. 🙈
Throwback to when I illustrated the life cycle of Megarhyssa atrata for this scientific paper:

It was a lot of work, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope I will get another opportunity like this one day.
A couple of weeks ago, I was going for a walk with my mom, and then she noticed something strange at the top/back of my head. To my shock and horror, a bald patch was revealed. I was very upset and scared, but luckily my doctor said it was a non-invasive case of Alopecia. She prescribed a special topical lotion, and being checked by a dermatologist in order to get this problem resolved. I subsequently decided to purchase this very cute wasp hair clip so that I can style my hair in different ways and wear the clip to hide the patch. I think it looks very cute. 🙂
Missed opportunity to have a bald-faced hornet
Hah! That's pretty clever, actually. Unfortunately a Dolichovespula maculata clip didn't exist, otherwise I would have absolutely gotten one. I didn't make the hair clip myself, I acquired it on Etsy. Maybe one will exist some day!
