fuck this im listening to the new minecraft music time to make a post about sculk/the deep dark/maybe the warden if i feel like it and some headcanons i have about it
first and foremost: the deep dark is terrifying for someone like me (aka: someone who’s only good at building things in creative). ive been down there a couple of times bc i wanted to look around. my friend accidently spawned the warden but i was nowhere near it so <3 i got a hoe
i like to think of sculk as like a weird moss. but its all spacey so that makes it even COOLER. (note to self: i need to draw sculk). the light blue spots on it flicker a little bit if you look at if for long enough. the sculk catalysts make good tablecloths (thank you goodtimeswithscar). HOWEVER.
if something dies near a sculk catalyst, then sculk spreads. if we take that into account when looking at the deep dark, is there a possibility that like. a crazy amount of things died there to make it spread that far? or maybe something (a player? a big boss?) with a lot of levels/xp died and That was what caused it to spread like crazy?
anyway on the building end of things, sculk could be a useful block for building handmade night skies. again it does the flicker thing, and maybe throw that in with some end rods and a bunch of black glass/concrete? i actually havent tried that so ill have to add that to my list.
also what the fuck are shriekers. those things are fucking terrifying. i might go as far to say that theyre close to the same level as the warden itself on my list of minecraft things that scare me (1. cave noise, 2. creepers, 3. warden, 4. shrieker). i ALREADY cant see in general why they gotta make me go completely blind <\3 /j
AND THE SENSORS. i hear one of those go off and then im TERRIFIED bc what if theres a shrieker nearby. so actually: 1. cave noises, 2. creepers, 3. the warden, 4. sculk sensors, 5. sculk shriekers. thats better.
bonus small headcanon: i like to think that when you look at sculk for long enough, your vision starts to dim. like. everything just seems generally darker, but ypu can still clearly see the light blue dots on it :]
