“ Fair dates would be so frickin’ cute. Like, especially if its in the fall and I get to wear cute scarves?”
“ And the cotton candy and cute little games oh my gosh.”
She just sits up.
“ Screw it I’ll go to the fair now by myself I don’t care. I wanna go.”
Ever since the night of the charity event, Scarlett had been trying to avoid certain people. Well, okay, one person, but that didn’t matter. It was a lot for her to take in that someone she considered a friend was a vigilante - everything she stood against. Wasn’t it bad enough that she had to fight other battles? Now another one had been dumped on her? What if Alex had something to do with her brother’s murder? That was a thought that plagued her mind to no end and she couldn’t seem to shake it, no matter how hard she tried. The brunette figured she could try and distract herself now that she wasn’t at work at the hospital. She’d decided to pay the cafe a visit and order herself a cup of coffee while trying to get some work done on her laptop.
Just when she looked up, there was a young man who took the liberty of dipping his hand into the purse of an old lady, swiping her wallet without the female being aware of what he was doing. Of course. Scarlett couldn’t help but release a small scoff at the sight, the irony of not being able to trust people being painfully obvious at this point. “Typical. No one can be trusted anymore.”
