Episode 1 of SD&D&D! (Social Distancing D&D • The Quarantine Games)

I am rewatching the entire thing, come join me. :3

Watcher's pinned post under the video already brought me back and it is SUCH a weird feeling. I was very excited for this rewatch but I am suddenly not as sure anymore if I really want to revisit 2020.

Like, damn. This is making me anxious, to tell you the truth. But here we go.

The ep is a little over 30 minutes long so it does not feel like the commitment a one-hour video would be.

We have:

Qezza (Katie LeBlanc) Steve (Ryan Bergara) Stephanos (Steven Lim) and Shane Madej as Dungeon Master

The guitar behind Ryan! I totally forgot about Bergara Guitara! And my God, I am enjoying Shane as Dungeon Master; he does such a great job.

I am already giggling at Ryan naming his character Steve and everyone's reactions. Anxiety totally unfounded, I take it all back, there was never anything to fear. It is also no secret that I adore Stephanos Coffeebean, he is really the heart of this thing for me. So intense and unhinged and weird and awkward all at once - he is my favorite character.

Oh my GOD I forgot how early the flirting between Steve and Stephanos starts! We are 5 and a half minutes in and Steve already called his accent "sexy".

I like Shane's voice acting for the different characters. It's really lovely.

Qezza just straight-up cutting a guy in half and the tonal shift right after. Damn lol. I enjoy that Qezza clearly has some sort of moral compass, Steve apparently doesn't, and Stephanos is a total wild card.

After about 20 minutes it is also more than apparent that Qezza/Katie is really the person (in addition to Shane, of course) who moves the story forward and has an eye on the bigger picture. This would get derailed so fast if it was only Steve and Stephanos/Ryan and Steven.

"a mighty fine number of band-aids" GOOD LORD I love him so muccccchhhhhhh!!! That made me laugh real hard; I have no idea why.

Also also quite enjoy Steve and Stephanos constantly making digs at each other. I don't care how this whole thing ends, this is a romance in the making lmao.

Kudos to Katie for taking control at the end there and keeping the episode on track.

Aaand we are ending on a cliffhanger.

I liked this first episode a lot. They are still finding their footing, there is a certain energy to it, a certain charme. Shane is a great DM and I appreciate how nice he is as a DM too - he is here to make sure everyone has a good time, not to punish them too harshly. Even though this is the first ep, we already get a good look into who these characters are.

And as I said, I have such an affection for Stephanos.

I don't know when I will be able to watch and comment on the next episode but this was a great start!
