Since I'm feeling sick and icky I thought this would be a prime time to post a drawing of Eileen I did recently!

So, this is entirely because of a lovely conversation I had with some friends on a JJBA server: Eileen during the Lovers chapters.

From what we're given in canon Steely Dan is much more of a talker than a down and out fighter (at least as himself, not his stand), this could perhaps be taken advantage of!

Eileen stays behind with Jotaro, she can't exactly help Pol, Kak or Joseph, and she can focus on making sure Jotaro doesn't punch Dan's lights out.

Eileen is still rather anxious, Dan is very intent on humiliating Jotaro and she's scared he'll do the same to her. Why not, she doesn't want Joseph to die either, right? But she's still determined to distract Dan.

E: So is Dan your last name? Middle?

S.D: Don't be ridiculous, you think a mercenary would actually give someone their legal name?

E: Then why choose it?

S.D: I mean, my first name is Danyal.

E: Oh that's nice. Is that to make things easier? What about 'Steely' where did you get that?

It keeps the attention off of Jotaro, but Dan can tell she's nervous, not genuinely interested, etc. On top of that, Dan can test boundaries: can he use Eileen as a way to humiliate Jotaro, what type of person is Jotaro: would he be alright with Dan making her cry? Goad him in some sort of way?

I can't really speak to the extent or what exactly the humiliation would entail, but he certainly snatches her choker - threatens to destroy it (cut it up? dump it in the river?):

"It can't mean all that much to you, hm? More than an old man's life? What, is that a tear?"

Here's a peek of Eileen during the Moon to Strength fights!

It's really funny, cause Eileen comes out onto the deck right after Kakyoin says, "Well, we are students! A good student always dresses the part!"

And she's just there in her little outfit going, "But we're sailors..."

She was feeling cute! Now she feels like a bad student 😞, so sad.

I think Death 13 is one of the arcs where Eileen's loyalty to Kakyoin is really evident.

Spoilers for Death 13 below, fellows.

In the beginning Eileen is all over the baby, cooing at him "look at his little hands!" tickling him, super involved - until Kakyoin starts thrashing in his sleep and the plane crashes. Then she is alert!

Cause while everyone's ignoring the hell out of Kakyoin hoping he'll stop being so 'weird' and shit Eileen goes: "ah! A friend in need!" So she just hangs back with Kak, silently waiting for him to spill.

He's really confused by this, and so are the others. There are a couple of times when Joseph asks if she's alright "staying back there" and that "it'd make this old man really happy to have some company" as a way out, but she politely refuses.

Of course Eileen can't be by his side 24/7, so Kakyoin still gets framed as "crazy" by Mannish Boy, but y'know.

Kakyoin isn't really used to people hanging out with him?? Especially cause he can overhear the others talking about dropping him off and otherwise. Eventually he asks "Aren't you scared I'm going to hurt you?"

And Eileen raises a brow and replies "Nah, you're not the type."

"Why are you staying behind with me anyways, you don't usually walk so slow."

"I'm looking for a change of pace."

"And?"

"And you're my friend. Today's been awful and it can't be fun being by yourself, so I'm doing something about it. Do you want me to go, Kakyoin?" It's one of those rare instances where Eileen sounds stern.

"No."

"Great!"

"And Eileen?"

"Mhm?"

"Since we're friends, you can call me Noriaki."

Eileen is super frustrated too, she understands why the rest of the Crusaders are wary, the baby's mother entrusted them with her son, but someone still needs to go to bat for Noriaki. (Of course she doesn't know that woman literally just,, found the baby + wanted him outta her sight, but y'know)

Noriaki's their friend, why would they abandon him like this (she is definitely projecting)? Especially since he hurt himself?! If that isn't cause for care Eileen doesn't know what is.

Do they think alienating him will make Noriaki knock it off?

During(?) dinner when Noriaki has had enough of Mannish Boy's antics (the scorpion, eurgh) Eileen's upset when they knock him out, but has to admit she's not in the right.

The dream sequence unfolds as expected, although Eileen is relieved to tears when Noriaki's okay!

Then waking up in the morning without the memories is weird.

No cut on his arm (good, but how? Does HG have healing properties she doesn't know of?) and perky... Something definitely happened.

She'll ask later.

I love talking about Stands, so I thought I'd let Eileen borrow the trait too! So I drew a couple of pages with the SDC's stands and her commentary (and Kakyoin's supplementary material!

Kakyoin, unfortunately, can't mark up The Fool's sheet because of the events with Geb.

I still got a lot to say (especially about HG, he's just so cool??) so maybe I'll writing something up later.

Polnareff doesn't see Eileen as a little sister. The loss is still fresh, they don't have the history-- Eileen and Sherry might both have long hair and a generally sweet disposition (thinking about the tropical fish) but that's all.

They're friends! Best friends, if you ask Eileen, she bonds quickly with people she sticks with, and there's a special connection because of the trauma and adventure of those 50-ish days but... No, Polnareff doesn't think of Eileen as a little sister figure.
