“you know,” elijah huffed as he joined his friend behind the prize counter. “i think the next parent who’s kid gets stuck in the claw machine, should have to deal with the consequences themself. i’m failing to see how it’s our problem their kid is a little idiot.” he may or may not need a smoke break.
Within her Fate Verse, Louise is a budding mage from the ‘Valliere’ family- A magus family from France. Though the family is oft overshadowed by a certain other European Mage Family- cough The Einzberns cough, although they are a formidable force nonetheless.
Instead of focusing on reaching ‘The Root’, however, the desire of this family is to reach ‘The Void’ - If ‘The Root’ is the origin, the start, of all magic, the universe, and everything, then ‘The Void’ is the eventual endpoint of it all - the logical conclusion to all that ‘is.’
Of course, this is why this family is not so respected- as many do not believe this ‘Void’ to even exist, nor the reasons for pursuing it. The Original Vallieres believed that “While the root created all of what is today, our existence is not a sustainable one. The universe will one day run out of energy and we shall be plunged into a freezing blackness, never to move again.”
They wish to reach ‘The Void’ to bring an end to the universe in it’s entirety, so as to avoid this fate. “It shall be quick and painless...and once all is wiped clean, The Root shall surely fill in the universe once more, and the cycle shall start a new.”
Perhaps a little twisted in their conviction- but the modern Vallieres do not know of this goal. Only that their goal is to reach ‘The Void’.
As for Louise herself, well...she had a rather spoiled upbringing, although she was frequently teased by her 2 elder sisters- as well as other mages she met- for her apparent incapability to perform even the most basic magecraft- anything she tried just results in smoky puffs.
Refusing to give up and fueled by her annoyance at her own apparently incompetence, she began practicing and studying harder, and in secret, and ended up creating her own ‘form’ of magecraft- Voidcraft. It’s a unique type of magecraft, as her magic circuits are suited for it- they channel a very strange type of ‘mana’ that does not mesh well with regular magecraft.
After this discovery, her abilities exploded, even being able to perform regular magecraft (although her method was different, the end result was the same as others) to an acceptable degree. Her “Voidcraft” makes her especially good against other mages, as it can cancel out other forms of magecraft. From easily deflecting/absorbing Gandr shots, to draining the ‘life’ out of familiars, and even weakening and shutting down bounded fields- Louise can aptly be called an ‘Anti-Mage’ - her very magic circuits an effective weapon against other mages.
Theories suggest that as she advances she may even be able to shut down an opponents magic circuits entirely for a short amount of time- because of her mage families’ reputation, people underestimate her...only to get shown up by her, making her feel proud- even if she has self-confidence issues.
HEr strange magic circuits mean she can still summon servants, although some rather strange ones could appear...? - In Fate Grand Order, she’s obviously a master candidate at Chaldea- although she only started going to singularities after Okeanos for some reason.
