Since Fina's return is now a fact, several interviews to Alba have appeared in different papers.

I've chosen the most interesting questions/answers (in my personal opinion) regarding the Mafin story to share them with you (includes EN translation):

Q. Has motherhood changed anything in you or in the way you act?

A. It has, in the sense that I’ve grown and a lot has happened to me during these months away. I’ve come back changed, and when someone has lived through more experiences and emotions, it becomes easier to connect with characters. In that sense, I think Fina is also coming back after spending time away and growing a great deal. A lot has happened to her, and it has changed the way she thinks and the way she lives. Bringing all of that into my work makes it richer, as do the tools you have as an actress to draw from. In those first few months postpartum I felt incredibly vulnerable, but now I think things have settled down a bit more.

Q. At what point does Fina Valero return? Will we see a very different version of her?

A. You’ll see a very different Fina, yes. Not only physically, because she comes back with a new look, but that also reflects a major emotional change. She’s been through a lot, both good and bad. All of it has helped her grow and become clear about what she wants, what she doesn’t want, and how she wants to live from now on. These changes will also create conflict in her relationship with Marta, because they now find themselves in very different places.

Q. Marta has been looking for Fina for a long time. One of the last things she heard was that Fina had been ill in Argentina. Will that illness have lasting effects on the character?

A. It will matter at some point, especially in terms of how she experiences the illness. It will become relevant at some stage, but it won’t be definitive.

Q. How does Fina come back? Has she gone through any kind of evolution during this time away?

A. Yes, a huge evolution that has made Fina come back different: much more mature, clear about what she wants, and far freer in the way she expresses herself. But she also returns carrying doubts and conflicts.

Q. How would you like the story between Fina and Marta to end? With a happy ending?

A. I find myself wondering what a happy ending actually means. Maybe, for the two of them, a happy ending is each of them continuing on her own path, and maybe they don’t have to be together. Maybe they’ve lived through an incredible love story, but it has come to an end. I’m not sure if that’s what I’d want. What I do want is for both of them to be happy.

A necessary pause [maternity] that also forced the writers to adjust the direction of her character within the story. Now, months later, her character reappears on screen with a clear evolution. Brunet admits that reconnecting with Fina has been almost like playing a different person. “Fina comes back much more mature, much more grown-up, clear about what she wants, with things she used to want and no longer does, and vice versa. I think this is really going to enrich the storyline and also create conflict.”

Q. Has this new Alba influenced Fina’s return?

A. Yes, completely; and in my case, for the better. I’ve noticed that I’ve come back much more grown-up, more independent, and much clearer about things. And it happens to coincide with Fina returning from Argentina in much the same way, so it’s been a real turning point for both of us. We’ve found ourselves facing a new situation from a new place: a very adult, very transformative one. I think we’ve evolved more or less in parallel.

Q. We know Fina, but you’ve said she returns to the colonia with a renewed spirit. What can we expect from her in the new episodes?

A. Fina has been through a lot, both good and bad. She’s lived through things that were very hard to process, both physically and emotionally. She’s gone hungry, she’s been cold, and she’s felt very alone. But she’s also lived through a kind of revolution alongside people who taught her how to live in a very free, bohemian way, and she’s been deeply connected to art. She discovered herself in an environment that made her very happy and revealed something within her that she didn’t even know existed. I think that will be something very positive for her, but it may also create some conflict, because she comes back and everything is still the same. She has lived so much out there that there’s no going back now

Q. How will she fit back into life in the colonia?

A. It’s going to be a bit contradictory, because on the one hand it’s her home and she adores the entire De la Reina family; she was really looking forward to seeing her friends Claudia and Carmen again... She’s going to feel very much in her place, in her safe space. But at the same time, she may also feel a little confined, as though it no longer fits her and she now needs a bigger world.

Q. Those aspirations may become clear after her long-awaited reunion with Marta, even though they’re both carrying a lot of baggage from the past. What has it been like bringing “Mafin” back together, as your characters are known?

A. It was something we had been eagerly waiting for as well. We were really looking forward to filming that reunion and were very excited to see where the characters were after everything that had happened. It also helped that Marta and Alba, — the actresses — hadn’t seen each other during those months either. We came back to each other with a lot of enthusiasm, and the characters did too. That doesn’t mean everything will stay that way afterwards, of course. A lot begins to happen, and conflicts start to emerge between them, as well as the ones each of them is carrying within herself.

Q. What would you like Fina to experience in the series that you haven’t had the chance to play yet?

A. I would love to play a moment of physical release for her. I can picture her in a nightclub, dancing, physically letting everything inside her burst out and screaming with happiness.

Q. Marta had a very hard time when Fina left: she turned to alcohol and tried to rebuild her life with Cloe. Will they still face many obstacles when it comes to making their love work?

A. The biggest obstacle now is the passage of time and everything that has happened to them during this period, which has changed them both. Marta has had Chloe, but they haven’t been able to fully make the relationship official or truly be well together because of Fina’s shadow and ghost, which has always been there between them. And Fina, simply by having spent that time away and through everything good and bad that may have happened to her, also comes back very different.

Q. Will we see new sides of Fina, then?

A. Her essence is still the same, because she is still the same character, but she has grown enormously. She has lived through very difficult things and also some wonderful ones. She comes back with a very clear sense of who she is and what she wants.

Q. Over these past few months, besides messages congratulating you on the arrival of your son, have you also received a lot of messages from fans asking for your return?

A. An incredible number. Far more than I can really process, because in the end I only skim social media. I’ve received so many affectionate messages, with people really eager for Fina to come back and shake everything up. And that is going to happen: she’s not going to return and leave everything calm. I know people are excited for Fina to be back, but I can already say that it’s not all going to be roses and happiness. It’s very possible that this change and this upheaval she brings with her may create some mixed feelings for viewers who love the character.

Q. What can #Mafin fans expect from this new chapter?

A. Most likely, there may be moments when they get angry with Fina. I was really interested in approaching Fina’s return through the decisions she makes from such a deeply human place. Characters may not always make the right choices, or the choices the audience wants them to make, because it’s human to make mistakes and sometimes react badly, fail to be empathetic, or not do what people expect you should do. So, I understand if they get upset, but I hope they also try to read it from that perspective too.

I'm really curious about Fina's illness and her bohemian experiences. I really expect she introduces Marta to a more open world!
