so the bus that brought the farmer to pelican town – the same bus that brought everyone to sam’s debut concert in zuzu city and (presumably) the same bus that brought elliott here only a few months before the farmer arrived – has canonically been dormant for decades.
lewis has been mayor for twenty years (as he proudly tells the farmer multiple times, unprompted), meaning most likely he’s been mayor for the majority of the time that the bus has been out of service. he’s let the entire town fall into disarray, let pam go without a job for decades, and (semi-unrelated to lewis but still worth noting) this also means that sandy has been without customers for decades (unless mr. qi and his casino npcs count as customers, but i doubt they’ve been buying beet seeds and random shirts).
but with all of that said, i just have to ask...how long has the farmer actually been in stardew valley? in winter year one, pierre stops by and tells the farmer about the new seed varieties he’ll start carrying in each season from now on, and congratulates the farmer on making it almost a year in pelican town. but even though pierre says it’s been only a year - meaning people know to some degree, how much time is passing, there’s still the question of how long is a year in the valley compared to everywhere else?
