A Little Chase
While out railfanning with some friends, we ran across this southbound Louisville & Nashville train on the former Monon. The train was intriguing to us due to the lead unit—it’s from a foreign road (though part of “Family LInes” along with the L&N) and it’s an Alco (RS11 built in 1960 for the Seaboard Air Line).
The first image is from Harrodsburg—one of the many instances where the line crosses over Clear Creek. I believe the second photograph was taken just north of Bedford, at Peerless Road. The third and fourth images are from just south of Bedford, and the last two are at Sandpit Siding.
Six images by Richard Koenig; taken Sept 12th 1976.
