Captain Blood's Last Stand
In the fog-shrouded coves of Tortuga, Captain Elias Blood gripped his cutlass, eyes blazing like cannon fire. His ship, the Vengeance, lay shattered by the Royal Navy's broadsides, her decks slick with the blood of his crew. "Ye'll not take me alive, ye scurvy dogs!" he roared, leaping onto the enemy frigate.Swords clashed in a whirlwind of steel and fury. Blood parried a lieutenant's thrust, then drove his blade through the man's heart. "For me brothers lost at sea!" But the odds were twenty to one. A musket ball grazed his shoulder; another pierced his leg. He fought on, a demon of the deep, until the admiral himself faced him."Yield, pirate scum," the admiral sneered.Blood laughed, bloodied but unbroken. "The sea claims her own." With a final swing, he cleaved the admiral's arm, but a volley of shots felled him. As he crumpled, the waves whispered his legend.Yet in the hold below, his hidden treasure map burned—lost forever to the flames he set himself. No gold for the victors. Only death's cold embrace.
