@seahymns sent: UMBRELLA for one muse to share their umbrella with the other on a rainy day.
a building of high school kids scatter through the parking lot to their buses, cars and rides while cold rain heavily beats down against concrete. of course it decided to come a monsoon the second last bell chimed. long curly red hair that falls right above her waist pushed back in an emerald headband bounces with each quick step down the many steps from the front school building door, giving a side glance behind her to make sure cal’s not following her. rose dips her head once she sees he’s finally gone, clutching her text books to her chest tighter after yelling her head off at her ex boyfriend cal hockley.
a boy older than her, star of the school, rich parents like hers. and the perfect definition of an a-hole jock. on the football team who always makes excuses that he was held back a grade only because he’s such an ‘amazing player’, but rose has begged to differ. argued he’s just dumb, which resulted in a terrible reaction she doesn’t like to think about. and while she’s finally broken up with him, he still tries to harass her. act like she’s his property and she isn’t. and while rose doesn’t like to lose her temper like that, like just a moment ago to get him off her back. it just proves more reasons why she needed to escape him. ‘cal hockley, if you don’t leave RIGHT this instant i’m going make you wish you had!’
the whole school must’ve heard.
it wasn’t a bluff either, it was boiling hot anger rising up in her at the pestering and the harassment she’s fed up with. her butterfly ring on her small fist was so close to plowing him right between the eyeballs. feeling the presence; it makes her TENSE right then. cherry curls swiftly turn with her head, about to really hit him this time with her books like she also planned to do earlier, torso quickly jerking in the others direction. but instantly she sees it’s not the familiar frame once rose looks up, cal and his stupid build and ridiculous face. it’s a much softer and friendlier of a face. “oh.” red brows lift, a soft gasp emitting and an elated smile takes over to see it’s that dawson boy again she’s been growing close to. “well...” softly laughing, a tiny blush painting her already blushed cheeks. feeling a little embarrassed. “thank you.” cal never has done something so chivalrous for her, it makes her brows pull into a small crease at how... kind of him. it’s actually really something that feels so foreign to her. then rose gazes back up at the taller with a sweet smile stretching red lips, “but you don’t have to, a little water won’t hurt. i’m probably not even going in the same direction as you and i wouldn’t want to make you walk further than you need to.” realizing she’s rambling, she stops herself there. “unless you want to come to the library with me? i’m dropping a few things off.”
