Slate tile is a popular choice of the floor cover. According to its versatility, features and lasting power, the slate is a valuable choice. In rustic, contemporary, creative and elegant interior design the slabs are very suitable. It has several finishes like honed and brushed as well. The feel of different finish is various. Wet look building with sealer application is another type of finish of the slate slabs.

Why use sealer?

It brings out the natural beauty of the slate tiles.

Is it the only cause of sealant application?

If so, then this slate tile has limitation. Yet the experts say that slate tile has extensive profits.

What are those benefits?

There is enhancing sealer that lifts the shine and gloss of the surface. It keeps the slate's dullness out. Along with the look, the solvent best sealant gives protection to the floor. This type of sealer can be used in any slate model. The wet look increases the visual attraction.

The types of enhancer:

There are two types of enhancer;

Solvent based

Water based

Which one is lucrative?

Both enhancers have a standard result on the slate tile flooring. Solvent based enhancer is recommended because of its early soaking tendency. This enhancer takes few times to mesh with the floors.

The VOC level is superior of solvent based.

Solvent based sealer gives good ventilation in the floors.

How it applies?

The owners must pour the enhancer after 72 hours (at least) after the tile installation. The tiles must be dry before sealer application.

What if it is an old slate?

You must clean the floor and wait until the floor is dry entirely.

How to ensure the satisfying result?

You can apply the enhancer on a spare tile and let it go for 20 minutes at least. After that, you would see the result. If you are stratified, then apply that throughout the floor.

Two other sealers:

Glossy sealer and clear sealer are two other types of sealers that can be used on the floors. The slate tiles would deliver the wet look.

Glossy sealer's factors;

·         First coat takes four hours to be dried and then second coat must be applied. Second coat takes some hours to be dried as well.

·         The sealer makes the surface smoother and shinier.

·         The glossy sealer gives more protection according to the high resistance power.

·         The marks show more on the glossy surface.

Clear sealer's factors:

·         The sealant disappears earlier than any other.

·         Clear sealer must be water based.

·         It doesn't affect the surface texture and color.

·         It keeps the natural appearance of the slate tile.
