Mr. Pukie is lurking in the review mirror ...
Their are no worlds to describe what the past two days in the late morning glow of the Florida sun has done for me. I can officially say that running may suck but doing the Navy SEAL exercises from Seal Grinder PT has truly forced an introduction to myself. I can say that I have literally sweat myself senseless and I have been drinking as much water and Gatorade I could get my hands on. I can say that being an overweight has hit home that military axiom, "Weight equals pain". I can say that I was in the pain cave with Mr. Pukie lurking in my review mirror. I am of the mind that fear is a mind killer because panic sets in and you don't want to finish or push yourself. I truly didn't want to start hurling so when I felt when I was at true muscle failure I decided to scale back on the final exercises. I can truly say that Monday's night sleep was the best sleep ever I was out like a shot, but I was excited to do Tuesday workout.
Monday AM: Seal Grinder PT / Monday PM: 1 and a half minute run w/ 3 minute walk
Tuesday AM: Seal Grinder PT / Tuesday PM: No Run
That brings me to the subject of day, I was sore like I haven't been in a long time. I know that it was because I haven't pushed myself like this since high school but I took pride in this pain, for I wasn't dead. It doesn't mean that I didn't hit the Motrin. Learning from yesterdays adventure I made sure the hydrate like a camel, drinking when I didn't feel like and you know what? Even though I sweated something fierce and had the shirt off and bathing the stone pool deck with my sweat I had the energy to push on and I was as nearly out of it as I was Monday. That doesn't mean that Mr. Pukie wasn't lurking in the review mirror because he was there, so I slowed down took it easy and paced myself for this is a marathon not a sprint. All of this is a launching pad for crossfit, hopefully before the end of the year.
A question for the folks out there, what is the best of staying hydrated? I have heard of coconut water with a touch of honey, I don't know but I am tired of chugging down Gatorade. So hit me with some tip?
