Who lives on Seaman, just after Cumming? The intersection of Seaman Avenue and Cumming Street is among the most photographed street signs in Manhattan. And is sure to elicit a laugh or a snigger. However, they are actually named after two of New York city's oldest families who owned a lot of land. The Seaman family originally came from England in the 17th century. They went about acquiring land in Upper Manhattan. By the 1850s, the family had built a country estate on land spanning 214th to 218th Streets. Unfortunately, not much is known of the Cummings. _________________________________________ All within your reach 🇺🇲 _________________________________________ @nofixedaddrs #nofixedaddrs _________________________________________ inwood #seamanave #nyc #cummingstreet #newyorkcity #newyork #citylife #streetphoto #iger_nyc #instagramuptown #everdayinwood #newyork #inwoodny #seamanandcumming #nyc_instagram #instagramuptown #streetsign #streetphotography #nycstreetphotography #nycphotography #newyorker #manhattan #ny #usa #bigapple #america (at Seaman Ave and Cumming St) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxpGPmxFG3p/?igshid=1amyy3ikxfpou
