My contribution to the recent Pendog update! I wrote and storyboarded this Beetrice PSA and @sushicatz textured the thumbnails I made and put it all together in a video. (These are just thumbnails, not completed boards!) The short was loosely based on a real anti-union PSA from 1958 called "And Women Shall Weep" which borrowed, exaggerated and straight-up lied about real-world events tied to a labour movement in Princeton, Indiana. (Here's a link to an interesting article about this). In response, the International Association of Machinists released their own film, "Anatomy of a Lie", which refutes just about every claim "And Women Shall Weep" makes.

Certain shots from the union meeting scene I borrowed directly from the short. The rest is all stuff taken from old anti-union posters and advertisements which often exaggerated things like the cost of dues. (In reality, most unions will offer financial aide to anyone who's struggling to pay, and needless to say there's no such thing as 'goons') Let the records show I am a member of the Canadian Animation Guild myself! Don't listen to Beetrice!

Pendog Creative Characters Opinions on Penny

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Just wanted to make a proper list of all the antagonistic, allied, and ambivilent animations we've got for our dear librarian:

Maisy: Likes her (This is good)! Wants all the other toons to leave her alone. Protective of her.

Strawbetty & Seamore: Like her (This is good). enjoy staying with her & Emma, but don't have much power themselves. They came to her for help, and won't be able to do much if another character starts invading.

Winerva: Likes her (This is good)? Clearly appreciates the interest, but isn't too keen in intervening beyond helping folks navigate the site & snoop into her personal blog (which is not, admittedly, a great thing to do). A storyteller at heart, she's probably going to stay as an observer unless something messes with her directly.

Winnie: Unknown, likely positive? Penny has received indirect help from the two through her job at the R.W Winfield Library.

Millie: Unknown, likely positive? She IS confirmed to be Penny's favorite character, so I'd be surprised if Millie didn't have a soft spot for Penny.

Lancer: Unknown. has started running around the site a bit, but his aims & interests are currently a mystery.

Tellie Lectric: unknown, we haven't seen anything about this dude's actual personality yet.

Dorothy: Unknown. Doesn't seem to know of her existence yet, but overall would prefer to be left to rest. Might not take kindly to her digging him up.

Slishy Slasher: Unclear, but prooobably hates her. She seems to blame a lot of Jayne's current situation on her, and considering she is literally a serial killer rn, that's probably not a good thing for Penny. Opinion might change once the Zine's finished.

Beetrice: Likes Her (This is Bad). probably wants to use her to find Strawbetty & Seamore. Seems to have some influence over her dreams.

Hecate: Likes Her (This is REALLY Bad). seems to want to use her platform to spread her influence. Really wants her to Come To The Party.

Bonus!

Miss Canary: doesn't appear to have any strong opinions, but seems to be having a blast wondering around the site when she's not looking!

Hey so I have finally got around to getting free time from my thesis! So we have an issue on the page "Beetrice Teaches About Unions PSA"

and uhhh....

the Bartlebee brand so so anti-union it's insane!

a nd their anti-Seamore! Any time this poor puppet opens his mouth it is corrupted! This poor puppet! He looks so uncomfortable when referred to as a a husband.
