Pendog OC dump !

Unfortunately fam… I don’t think my lore post about my pendog OC will ever see the light of day… so imma just make a small little post about her instead of a long ass post because I still really wanna make a post about her, maybe one day that'll post will come to light.

She is my self-insert to self ship with Tellie Lectric, love him so much. I’m one of the few Tellie Self shippers out there. </3

Briar Bliss was made in the late winter of 1964 by a company named Reverie Apparel and Cosmetics in Los Angeles, founded by a man named Warner DeMonet. Her original creator is a Chicana woman named Maritza Chavaria, who was a seamstress at the company.

Always depicted as a taller young woman with dark brown round doe eyes, drawn with thick eyelashes that swirled at the ends, wavy dark brown hair that was always drawn at different lengths, but usually it ended at her lower back, pale skin that made her look almost sickly, and black sheep ears. Her debut was in the summer of the year she was created.

Originally, she was made to promote the clothes that Reverie designed and sold in stores. Still, she ended up becoming more popular than the brand itself with the comic strips that were at the end of each magazine portraying her as an air-headed, ditzy, but sassy and brassy young woman, based on Chavaria's younger self. In these comics that made her big, it just involved her in miscellaneous adventures with her friends or showing her disastrous love life.

Briar's popularity lasted for two years before it suddenly just stopped as the London wave finally died out, she was too outdated and when Reverie tried to rebrand her to fit in more with hippie culture the feedback was filled with criticism about the brand being disingenuous with their intentions.

And since Briar wasn't making money off her anymore, they decided to just shelve her for good in 1968.

It wasn't until the late 90's when Chavaria’s niece tried to make something new out of Briar, made concept art of the character being more modern, and wanted to make her own comic issue with her for a more mature audience, but Reverie threatened legal action if she even tried to continue.

Reverie ended up filing for bankruptcy and shutting down in the early 2000’s, leaving Briar up for grabs, but no one did anything with her.

She’s just as tall as Dorothy Doo! (Sometimes a little taller based on what hairstyle and shoes she’s wearing that day)

She has two dogs! A little white dog named Spanky Boo and a small ginger dog named Nova Dottie. She really wants a cat and wants to name it Mousey May.

The first design of Briar was originally going to be a mascot for a sleeping pills manufacturer and her original name was gonna be Marry-Belle, but I decided to scrap it because I was having trouble actually having to come up with anything else for her! But I do have this old ref sheet and drawing of her first design!

I don’t have a specific voice in mind for her, but I think she would have like a nasally, valley girl accent. That or I think she would sound like Olivia Rodrigo… idk I feel like Olivia Rodrigo’s voice goes with Briar’s face. Idc if it isn’t time accurate

If Reverie ever actually produced a doll of Briar to sell, I think it would be similar to a Blythe doll. Especially with how big those dolls' eyes are.

If she could get any body modifications, she’d really want a corset piercing or a belly button ring. She wants them so bad. #yearner

During her comic run, she had several love interests both men and women, but she was never interested in them 😭, but when she saw Tellie, she folded so quickly. She loves that man and his silly marching band hat BADDD. I really think it went like this.

Besides her relationship with Tellie, she is very fond of Seymour and Strawbetty, Briar thinks Strawbetty is a total sweetheart and likes Seymour’s aloof behavior.

She doesn’t like Hermonia, like that’s her opp simply because she gets reminded of how quickly her popularity faded. She’s still butt-hurt about that

She is based on several characters, some of whom are Juliette Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw, Sailor Moon, Betty and Veronica from the Archie comics, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, and Lucy from I Love Lucy!

heya! just curious, would it be ok for me to turn one of the art pieces from Pendog Creative Library into a physical pin? specifically the button badge of Maisy Mutt that says "this bitch will bite - good luck putting her down" (and if so, could i make a minor adjustment and put "them" instead of "her" to fit my pronouns?). i absolutely love it, and would love to put it on my bag!

I can’t help it! Pendog characters are so much fun to draw!

A little sketch page I did of my sona for exploration, including fun little interactions with various Pendog and Deltarune characters (my favorite hyperfixations atm), plus some cleaned up versions of previous sketches I posted.

I have a sketch of her with Maisy too but that ones still a work in progress lol

Oh! And a little sketch of my sona showing off. Since she’s a shadow, her form isn’t fixed, so she can shapeshift into a bunch of different things. Her favorite is a wolf/dog (in contrast to a certain heterochromatic cat) she also really likes the color yellow 💛
