THE SEANCE
The heart of the city is the playground of the elite, but the more wretched, desperate souls gather further East - a dark and dangerous place for any lost soul to end up. Criminals stalk the streets, striking fear into the hearts of those who call the city home. But under the cover of darkness, hidden behind the infamous pea soup fog, something strange is going on in London town - the dead of the city have stories to tell, and tonight, they will not be silenced.

Which character are you most drawn to? I am playing my dearest, dearest medium, Wu Xinyue who’s an absolute delight, despite being perpetually exasperated by both the living and the dead! My very close second is the most interesting toymaker who’s... well, he’s something else entirely and I just love their bio so much!
Tell us a wild Victorian fact or name your favourite Victorian figure: My boy Oscar Wilde, who was the inspiration behind the poet, has been my favourite author since forever and the absolute irony of his final words? God, what an icon.
What’s your favourite ghost story? To be quite fair, I love folk tales the most ( the Slavic folk sayings about fairies kidnapping young children and taking them up the mountains to force them to endlessly comb and braid their hair is just... peak aesthetic ). But, when it comes to ghost stories I love any and all maritime ghosties like the tales of Mary Celeste or the Flying Dutchman!
Anything else? I’m incredibly excited for this rp and I’ve had tremendous fun in helping to bring it to life!

Which character are you most drawn to? I'm applying for The Governor! I love characters who have fallen from grace and have vices and dark sides, but also have a conscience. The depth of his character really appeals to me, someone who is trying to keep themselves afloat but is being sucked into darkness and vices that might ultimately be his undoing.
Tell us a wild Victorian fact or name your favourite Victorian figure: Okay they're not exactly historical figures but I love the Dracula story, and I find the Jack The Ripper case fascinating insofar as it's still gone unsolved and has so much buzz surrounding it even now, over a hundred years later. My friend Liv (who I hurriedly told about this RP as soon as I saw it) went on a Jack The Ripper tour when we met in person for the first time in London.
What’s your favourite ghost story? I love the story of the Winchester Mystery House, The Stanley Hotel, and any horror movie written by Mike Flanagan.
Anything else? I'm really excited to meet people and get to know the world and characters.

Which character are you most drawn to? The Dandy with Maxence Danet Fauvel, I’m so ecstatic for his messy boy vibes. Plus the inspiration being Lord Byron? 10/10, it’s perfection. Also literally excited for all of the rest of the cast and just lajflskdj yes.
Tell us a wild Victorian fact or name your favourite Victorian figure: I think Florence Nightingale is really cool, I love the story and much of it also thanks to Drunk History for narrating her story lol. Plus being called “lady with the lamp” just sounds both aesthetic and powerful given what she’s done for modern nursing.
What’s your favourite ghost story? One of my favorites has to be the Lizzie Borden ghost story, it’s just wild how she made her mansion into an essential maze plus combined with her fear of ghosts and the afterlife like maybe she was onto something? Who knows lol.
Anything else? Just really excited for this roleplay to take off and also write with some wonderful people ahhh!!!

Which character are you most drawn to? I will be playing the waif, aka Annie Sheedy the loml, but a very close second is The Songbird, who I simply adored and would love to see someone pick up!
Tell us a wild Victorian fact or name your favourite Victorian figure: My favourite figure would be Daisy Greville, a scandalous countess known for throwing fabulous parties and having an affair with the Prince of Wales and who later was a pioneer in setting up education and employment opportunities for women and employment schemes for the less fortunate, an all round charitable queen and the subject of the song that goes “Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do”.
What’s your favourite ghost story? The story of The Highgate Chicken sends me - apparently somebody was trying to test the theory that cold keeps food from going bad so he prepared a chicken and put in in the snow, and the chicken can still be seen to this day running about.
