At first things were a bit awkward. Two groups merging into one wasn't easy, especially coming from different companies, but it started to get easier. They all clicked one way or another. The Quantum boys were slowly making themselves at home in the XCape house - really they couldn't call their house a dorm anymore. After two by two dorms, they moved into a house, as they had decided when shit hit the fan with Bae. It took a while to find one for them, but this one was perfect, big enough for every unit to have their own little area, even Quantum's Saint line.
But things were different. Suddenly his kids turned to Jake and Woo-Jin for advice, sometimes. At first it didn't bother him, but it got more prominent. And then he heard them say Jinnie-Hyung but not come to him but to Woo-Jin. Sure he was happy they socialized and got along, but his name no longer seemed to belong to him. His presence seemed to not be wanted anymore.
The worst part was one day when he came into his recording studio and there was Jake with Hwang and Bae, recording for their newest song. The more time passed, the more often it happened, even Sunny. He wasn't needed in his team anymore.
During their stages, he went through the motions more and more, let others speak in the interviews and try as he might, writing songs became harder and harder until no words made it onto paper anymore and he didn't show up in the studio anymore.
His heart and head were numb and yet painful at the same time. One evening, when spoken to about food - namely what he wanted to eat, he answered truthfully:
"Just jigae," but his voice came out in a pitiful, breathy whisper. He tried to clear his throat, but as he repeated himself, it remained a whisper, as if he had a bad cold.
So his voice was gone, too. He was fully useless now. Without a further word, Hyunjin turned and went into his bedroom, burying himself in his bed, staring at the wall.
