AND YOU’RE GONNA BE SURPRISED WITH WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM WHEN THEY BOTH FIND OUT
Love the "johnlocker have double standards" post, you're spilling truth tea everywhere. I also noticed your tags saying how you don't mind a gay Sherlock, as long as he's not with John, and I think that's a sentiment shared by most non-johnlock shippers. And, I'm convinced it doesn't have anything to do with the ship itself, it's the terrible shippers in that group.
Thank you! I honestly think if you’re going to insist that we back up our shipping with canon that it’s 100% valid than you do the same, you know? And throwing “Oh, it’s always been that way” doesn’t count, because as far as I know in ACD canon Sherlock and John were never explicitly lovers, either. I see this argument a lot and it makes no sense because while Sherlock is based on ACD canon, Sherlock is its own separate entity and therefore has its own mythology and backstory and is not beholden explicitly to what was written in the 1800s.
And exactly. Personally I think canon!Sherlock is going to turn out to be portrayed as ace even if he actually isn’t, mostly because I think Moffat said it’s simply that he just doesn’t care about sex, and that’s totally cool with me. But if he turned out to be gay I’d be very okay with that. I know there’s a section of the fandom that ships him with a male who is not John who is slipping my mind at the moment (Victor Trevor, I think? Is this ringing a bell for anyone?) and I think that’s awesome too, and I’m friends with a few Sherlock/Lestrade shippers who are quite lovely people. I have just seen multiple times where it’s been stated by the creators that John’s preference is women, and we’ve only seen him with women, and the insistence that he’s gay (and not bi…very few people ever suggest maybe he’s bi) and everything he feels for Mary and felt for those women is a lie makes me very upset.
To be honest, if it wasn’t for the rabid shippers, the ones who argue about it and treat anyone who ships John or Sherlock with anyone else (and I don’t just mean women…I see John/Lestrade and Sherlock/Lestrade shippers getting a lot of crap too, like John and Sherlock can be gay, but just for each other) with utter contempt, like we’re idiots who can’t see the obvious, the fandom would be a lot more peaceful and, I think, a lot more welcoming to newcomers. Since I’m primarily a Sherlolly shipper I got very lucky and found a wonderful, beautiful and safe part of the fandom to really feel like I belong when I transitioned from the Wholock/Pondlock fandom in 2012, but then (like it did recently in the Sherlolly tag) the hate rears its ugly head and I just go “Seriously? Why ruin something for someone else when you’ve managed to convince people who aren’t even in our fandom that you guys are the predominant voice?” Because they are, and while I have known some very lovely people who ship Johnlock (mostly because they’re multishippers like I am and so they have a ton of ships), the ones who are loudest have the tendency to also come across as some of the nastiest. And that scares people off sometimes, and that’s saddening, because they see anything that’s not Johnlock drowned out and ridiculed and they’re like “Why bother?” and they leave. Fandoms need all types of fans to grow, people who ship all types of ships and love all types of characters and welcome people who may love something different but still love the show or move or whatever as a whole, or else the fandom fades away.

awww, Eleanor these are perfect! Thank you! :D
Yayy! Very happy you’re pleased with them. I’m growing somewhat addicted to making icons now, haha. Already made a bunch for Stardust, Star Wars and various celebs. Will probably make more -- it’s one way to procrastinate after all.

“The techs backtracked the signal all day yesterday, and just located the source address last night. As you heard when you came in here, Ross is preparing to raid the flat and locate the two occupants and determine whether if they were either involved or framed bystanders in the attack two nights ago, both at the casino and here in London,” Q said grimly, brow furrowing as he studied a typed notation on the side of the form.
“Is there a way you can figure out if they were actually here?” Bond asked, resolutely ignoring the small ball of ice in his stomach.
“I’d need the hacker’s code first, see if there are resonating echoes in our systems. Which means that first, our security needs to be triple-checked before we introduce something new on an isolated server,” Q said, leaning back slightly to look up at Bond. “Do the names of Cornelius and Annaliese Tschoepe mean anything to you?” he asked, stiffening in place to maintain his balance when Bond shrugged his right shoulder without thinking.
