Briar/Rose: A Queer Fairytale
Jun 14, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Copious, 2220 Northwest Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107, USA
The age-old story of a fairytale Princess banished from her home by an evil queen, with a twist: the "Princess" is actually Briar, a transgender boy just discovering his identity. With help from a young sorceress, Briar is able to magically transform into his true self, and together they make a life for themselves deep in the Northern woods. But when dashing Prince Alister and his sister tumble into their lives, Briar’s simple life is suddenly much more complicated--and his mother casts a long shadow over what should be a happy ending.
This performance includes the in-progress script and score for what will eventually be a one act musical.
The Call opened last night! I’m really proud of this set design and grateful to be telling stories with the amazing humans at Seattle Public Theatre. 📸 : Photo by John Ulman . . . . . . #setdesign #scenicdesign #seathtr #sptthecall https://www.instagram.com/p/BxoF_WfFRQa/?igshid=10uf0xx9qmxl1
Won't you join me in raising a toast?
Just over a year ago, we got to announce The Devil and Sarah Blackwater would be produced at Annex Theatre. And earlier this fall, we were honored to be the People's Choice for New Play at The Gregory Awards 2019! None of this would have been possible without the hard work and love of our cast and crew -- nor without the support of YOU, our community.
As we close out the decade and make plans for the next stage (heh) in the play's development, we want to ask you one more favor: cast a vote for us in the BroadwayWorld 2019 Regional Awards!
And thank you, thank you, thank you again. I don't believe in overnight success. But I believe in us.
How to Vote: We’re eligible in a lot of categories! Voting for us in these categories helps show your support for new work that’s by and about queer NBs and women, that revels in magic and music, and is headed for the stars.

#Repost @marcus_gorman with @get_repost ・・・ Well, would you look at that! DEERS (@annextheatre) is currently in second place for Best New Play for @theatrepugetsound’s Gregory Awards. Voting is still open to all—Seattleites and non-Seattleites—so consider voting your heart and select our silly, sad, sweet live sitcom, recently mentioned in the @newtheatremagazine’s pilot issue as part of @thewoodzick’s Non-Binary Monologues Project. (Every character was written as gender-neutral/non-binary to keep casting as inclusive as possible.)
