Here are a few things I always suggest to my clients when thinking about their seating chart: 1. Keep Relationships in Mind Think about who will enjoy sitting together. Does Aunt Sue love chatting with new people? Pair her table with some of your outgoing friends! And be mindful of any potential clashes. 2. Make It Accessible Guests with mobility needs will appreciate being seated where they can easily move around. The same goes for anyone who might want a quick getaway from the dance floor noise! 3. Make It Memorable Your seating chart doesn’t have to be a last-minute addition. Whether it’s displayed on an elegant mirror, a rustic wooden sign, or even a chic acrylic board, this is a chance to tie your theme together. A seating chart is not only a guide but also a beautiful design element of your wedding.

Are seating and table charts necessary?

A lot of brides stress over seating/ table arrangements during the last month before their wedding. In fact, it's such a difficult task many wedding planners try to have a "seat yourself" reception. "Seating yourself" may make things more simple and easier before the wedding, but it also loses some elegance and convenience during the reception. When attending weddings, the majority of people would prefer a seating chart or at least be given a specific table to sit at. A seating chart allows for quick seating and also does not leave guests' jackets, bags, and belongings slung over chairs to save seats. It makes your guests more comfortable because they know exactly where they should be sitting. It also makes sure guests who don't know any of the other guests very well will have a spot to sit and any couples or families won't be separated. Depending on the number of guests at the reception, the number of people, and the feel and style of a wedding, brides may choose a seating chart, table chart, or neither. I would opt for a least a table chart to organize who will sit at each table because guests can get seated quickly and dinner time can begin!
