The great Seattle fire didn't stop us. We just shrugged and said, we'll make a new Seattle. It'll be bigger, better, with blackjack and seamstresses.

I really hope the air stops being so smokey, my roommate doesn’t care that the air is really bad here near Seattle so she keeps leaving all the windows open( in our bedroom, in our living room, etr) . My chest feels really tight, my throat hurts, and my eyes burn. IDK what to do :(  I feel like I’ve been chain smoking and this is really shitty.

Seattle explosion injures nine firefighters, residents evacuated

An explosion rocked a Seattle neighborhood early Wednesday, injuring nine firefighters, forcing evacuations and heavily damaging buildings, officials said. The blast occurred in the city's Greenwood section after fire crews responded to reports of a natural gas leak. About 40 minutes after they arrived, an explosion shook the area, Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Corey Orvold said.

Thought it was an earthquake; way too loud to be a gunshot. So I got out of bed, checked on the family, and my family's good. So I went outside and saw smoke.

The explosion occurred at 1:43 a.m. PST, and damaged multiple businesses north of downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. A restaurant and convenience store appeared to be leveled and a coffee shop also was heavily damaged. Businesses across the street also were hit, Orvold said. There is no word of any other injuries or anyone missing, but dogs were being used to go through the rubble just in case.
