All roads once lead to the Dog House formerly on 7th Ave and Bell St. This photo shows server Jennie Lee “J.L.” Alvord, who worked at the Dog House for 30 of its 59 years. The 24-hour Dog House closed on January 31, 1994, and was a restaurant for ordinary people, where waitresses took no guff, an organist played sing-alongs in the bar, and the rib-eye steak came with the disclaimer that tenderness was not guaranteed.
