Still high on endorphins this post-marathon Monday morning! If only I got a medal for going to work 😉 #rockandrollmarathon #seattlerunning #runhappy #quadsaskwhy
New Year, New Races!
It has arrived! It’s 2016 and time for another post! Running updates galore, so settle yourselves in.
I was on a hiatus from social media and writing in general last fall and winter because of the craziness that was my work-life. Days were long, weekends were non existent and life is just now starting to come back around to normal. It’s perfect timing, too, because it’s already nearly time to start training for my next marathon, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Up first we’ve got the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon in March! This will be my third year and I am super excited for one particular reason: I don’t have mono this time around! Last year I barely finished the race. I felt horrible and it was all around discouraging and awful. A couple of weeks later I was diagnosed with mono and all of sudden that horrible race made sense. This year I plan to crush it!
I’m also planning on running the Seattle Rock N’ Roll Marathon - the full 26.2 miles in June. Eeeek! The training plan (more on that later) lines up nicely with the end of the half marathon plan, so it should be a pretty seamless transition into marathon training. I’m looking forward to a race that is not in the uncharacteristically bitter cold that we had in November 2014!
The other exciting running update is:
I joined a team and will be participating in the Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage Series which takes place in July! It is completely outside of my comfort zone, but in the best way possible. Rachel decided to embark on this adventure with me, which makes it that much more special and exciting.
Cheers to 2016 and all that it has in store!
Not letting the rain stop me from running my farthest distance ever around Lake Union today! ☔️👟💦 #breakingrecords #sundayrunday #halfmarathontraining #werunsf #seattlerunning
